Thor Movie

Started by Tom Joad62 pages

when I want to think of great love stories, I remember the star wars films. Ah yes, the 20 some year old Natalie portman and the 8 year old kid's deep and thrilling romance in star wars episode 1. And the forever tantalizing romance cutaways in episode that were ever so endearing. wrapped up with Padme losing the will to live, because of how her hubby hurt her so in episode 3. Plus the touching incest romance in episode 4. If Thor can have the down-to-earth romantic stories that star wars did, then we'll be just fine, just fine.

Wasn't the point of binding him to Donald Blake to stuff some humanity into him?

People always try to stuff things in that aren't necessary.

Why does romance have to be in every movie? Iron Man was the only one that didn't entirely or unbearably shove it in our faces. Romance isn't frequent in life, I fail to see why it's frequent in these movies.

Well, he's had that back story and has been like that for like 40 years now. I don't think they'll change it.

I ended up losing track of Ages of Thunder, but I think I liked him more as the pre-Blake prick in that than how he is afterwards.

True dat.

Humility, not humanity exactly. But both are part of the same lesson.

Superpowers aren't common in life either. In fact, I believe they are markedly less common than romance.

I sort of suspected that would happen..

Wrong all wrong.

Okay, I know I'm going to upset some people when I say this, but what is so wrong with Triple H playing Thor? He's a big guy whose weapon of choice is a hammer. Hmmm... Thor... big guy... uses hammer. totally okay with me.

He doesn't have to have a lot of speaking lines. Especially if they're going to focus more on Blake and stuff like that.

I know, people are going to freak out on me for that, but honestly, Thor really has never been one of those guys who strikes me as a guy that needs to talk a lot anyway. And, verily, we should be keeping this talk in a Thor movie thread anyway, but I had to get that out of my system.

People are going to complain no matter who they get for the part of Cap and the part of Thor. I think they should pick someone who looks the part and can halfway act. They don't need to be Russ Crowe or Tom Hanks acting level, just adequate, because most of the movie is going to be action anyway, and special effects, so who really cares if the guy wins an Oscar. Just because people want to give one to Heath Ledger, doesn't mean every Comic movie has to be something worthy of a little gold statue, just VERY good entertainment, true to the source material, and all out enjoyable to watch.

I mean, people gushed over the new Hulk, and there's no way that was Ed Norton's greatest role. So please, people, just enjoy whoever they get, enjoy the movie, and stop complaining before the guy gets a chance to prove himself.

And I'm done for now.

Do you read comics?

Thor is generally always portrayed as being very linguistically articulate. Very dramatic and grandiose in his use of words and language, almost theatrical.

You honestly think turning him into Rage from the New Avengers is going to make a good movie?

When Thor reveals himself in a cascade of thunder, lightning and the obligatory operatic music, you want that guy to be Triple H?

Whats wrong ?

Due to a derailing to the Captain America thread, spent like 20 minutes making this.

I really don't know who he is though. I just wanted to paint someone up like Thor.

The idea of a new different Thor, a Human Thor.

Remember Thors acting cannot upstage Caps acting in Avengers movie.

Huh ??.......did you even read what was on that link

It explains how the actual Thor film will be set in the ancient time of the Norse Gods and how they will subsequently bring the character into a modern time with Donald Blake discovering the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and turning into Thor.

surely you know all about the Donald blake side of things.

Yeah... It sounded to me like it was going to be a Thor movie ending in Donald Blake. Like... you know at the end of X-Men when you see the Senator's eyes flash yellow and you're like "Snap! That's Mystique!"

It'll end with Thor being sent away for some reason then you see some seemingly disconnection scene featuring some shmuck named Donald Blake then there's some kind of sign that Thor is in there.

Kenneth Branagh "Gets" Thor

Source:Newsarama February 4, 2009

Marvel's Joe Quesada and writer Brian Michael Bendis talked about their meeting with Thor director Kenneth Branagh on Twitter and thanks to Newsarama, this is how it went...

Joe Quesada: Okay, three words describe my day today "Branagh gets it!"

Bendis: @JoeQuesada hey are we allowed to talk about what we did today or is it hush hush?

Quesada: @BRIANMBENDIS We can't go into detail but I think we can say that we met with Branagh about Thor ;-)

Bendis: @JoeQuesada so we can't go into detail but maybe we can say that we met with Branagh about Thor ;-)

Quesada: (in response to a fan) I'll tell you what's sweet @rdhall Sweet is when he starts quoting continuity and past storylines. The man has immersed himself in Marvel

Quesada: Yes @BRIANMBENDIS we can hint at hour super secret Thor meeting with Branagh, but don't give it away, just hint

Always good to hear that those involved are fans. I think that with a quality actor, this movie could be very good.

Opening day is 17 months away. The lack of news or casting announcements, has me concerned. I hope this doesn't get derailed like Wonder Woman (who also seemed to have the right director locked in, only for him to walk.)
