Thor Movie

The other intriguing thing is, Kenneth Branagh most often acts in his directorial efforts; either leading or co-starring.

What role would he take in the Thor mythos?

Thor is out of the question.
Could he play Odin in heavy makeup, and being scaled for size?
Or...could it be Loki? He did a good Iago in the last version of Othello; that was quite a scheming character.

Animation Magazine reports Daniel Craig was approached to play Thor, but turned it down.

It makes sense; he's busy with James Bond these days. But it shows Marvel is aiming high with actors (who are also built.)
Now just get Gerard Butler on the phone!

Best thing for Thor is to cgi him..

There is not a hollywood actor that even looks the part

I would prefer they put him in a muscle suit and scale him up for the camera(ala The Lord Of The Rings) than CGI.

But really, I just want the best actor who looks built enough for the role. This doesn't have to be a Hulk/Juggernaut situation, where you must use F/X to make him look real.

They cast Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut, you think Hollywood is beyond casting someone human Thor?

I like Gerard Butler as an actor, but I see him more as Hercules than Thor.

Perhaps that may work...

Right now anything is possible including cgi'ing Thoe, but you know things will change when more news comes out

I think that in regards to Thor, they should just get someone who's somewhat tall (around 6'3 or 6'4) and let him build up enough muscle, and if he still isn't big enough after a certain period of time, put him in a muscle suit. Speaking of the suit, I'd absolutely love to see something similar to Ultimate Thor:

while he's cool and all. i would prefer it be about 616 thor

I want it to be about 616 Thor, but I was referring to how I want the costume to be.

I'm really hoping they go 616 Thor all the way. Thor without the cape and helm is like cake without frosting, and the 1610 Mjolnir reminds me too much of one of those hatchet/hammer combos they sell at Sears. I was never too big on making the god of thunder an agent of Greenpeace either.

It's not a big deal for me for them not to change the original costume, I was just throwing it out there. As long as they can take the original costume and maybe update it to make it more cool, I'm in.

His new costume is great, because it takes the classic elements and updates them to look more like battle armour, rather than a superhero outfit. And his look should be awe-inspiring, because he is a God and not a regular viking.
The one constant Marvel has with Thor is the blond hair, plus a dark blue-black outfit with six discs from chest to waist. That's something that shows their trademark, rather than the Thor you can find at other publishers around the world.

If we got what's in the picture I posted, I'd love it. It looks great, and as you said combines the superhero costume with armor. I particularly like that the costume isn't too colorful, and combines the right colors.

Yeah, I think that's a good compromise as far as making it "real world" like IronMan and Hulk. No one wears a cape and a helmet with wings on it. LOL

Now, the matter of making Thor's mythological world of Gods fit into the universe Marvel has already established with science and military... that's gonna be the tough part.

If he wears a helmet, I'd like it to look like the one he wore as King Thor.
Other than that, look at the various styles of helmets worn by Rohan & Gondor soldiers from LOTR. Some great desings in there; find a mesh.

I think Thor will wear his very first original costume and well as the same helmet he wore when he first appeared way back in Journey into Mystery

I think that's one thing that should stay the same, but maybe with a few tweaks. It will be a bit difficult, but Marvel knew what they were getting into when they decided to set up an Avengers universe. 😉

How about Kevin McKidd he has the blonde hair and he's in that show called Rome.

He was rumoured a year ago, when Matthew Vaughn was attached. Since Vaughn dropped out, and McKidd is busy with other commitments...
I never got if they wanted him to be just Donald Blake, or Thor in a muscle suit.
