Master Chief also known as John has more experience and is genetically enhanced. Master Chief has worked to become a Spartan since he was 7 years old. Samus has only been in the buisness for about 20 years.
And how do you know this?
Also, how old is MC?
Because unless he's over 30, he would also be doing it for 20 years.

How much crack did you have when you said that?
Anyways it's not really a comparison between the Chief and Samus. Chief is a hardened military soldier who has the military skills and the courage of a titan. Samus is just some chick who visits planets and uses different techniques. One on one in a hand to hand match, Chief would win. With all of the skills available and weapons, Samus would win with her strange beams. Chief would most probably get in a good shot with the rocket launcher and collect an overshield. He'd pwn with an energy sword but meh... it doesn't really count when the chick can shoot rockets out of a magical morphing hand.
I vouch for Chief but I don't know who'd win...

Samus has Chief beat in pretty much all areas.
Armor-Samus. Blasting power-Samus. Experience- Tie. Trainers- Samus. Speed-Samus. Fanboys-MC.
And the books are there to glorify MC, basically. Books for Samus would make her look equally impressive. Yes, Chief is good. But if everything translated literally from the books to the games, Chief would be literally punching holes through aliens with his bare hands.
And for those (lots of you) who don't know, Samus has been raised to fight by the Chozo since age >4<, after her family was killed by Space Pirates. The Chozo being an advanced alien race who have completely mastered the art of war. Samus was infused with Chozo blood, making her much stronger, faster, etc than a normal human. Her suit is custom fit to her, with a fully adaptable gun arm, missile launcher, morph ball capabilities, etc. The thing takes a helluva lot of punishment too. She currently travels the universe as a bounty hunter. Hardly just some chick in a suit.

I'm not trying to throw in a vote for the MC here, exactly, but why throw out the books? They're considered part of Halo's 'canon' and therefore, I don't see how they're 'irrelevant'. Just because Samus hasn't had any novels written about her doesn't mean Chief should be somewhat 'handicapped' by having his books taken away; blame Nintendo for not having any written stories about Samus. Also, in a way, you can call it a balancing factor. Samus has had how many games? At least 9. Chief has had how many? 2. Let him have his books.

So what? Humans haven't mastered the 'art of war'? By everything that's been said, it sounds like they've just got better combat equipment.
So far, the only advantage I've seen that Samus truly has is armament; she's just bristling with weaponry. As far as training, ability, experience, armor, etc. go, I'd dare say they're equal.
Fanboys-MC.
Trust me, there are just as many Samus fanboys/girls out there as well.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself with the fanboys thing. There's still more people who like Halo that know nothing about other video games though...
And as to armor, Samus has somewhere in the vicinity of 15 energy tanks. That's a whole lot of blasting, considering each one would take more to deplete than Chief's life bar. She can pull a Rambo and let him shoot at her, then just launch a Super Missile.
Samus still has a speed advantage. I agreed that both are about equal in ability and experience.
As to the things that trained them, the Chozo are much more advanced than humans. It's part of their description that they have "mastered" war. That means technology, strategy, everything. I'd say they're at least good enough to easily trash the humans if need be. War tactics don't help so much in single combat though...

That's definitely true. Halo's become a big party deal, even for people who don't regularly game. This is actually a good thing; Halo's acting as a 'gateway drug', so to speak, to get more people into gaming.

Technolgy is something I'll give, but strategy is also a shapeless monster beyond a certain point; it's very dependent on resources and we both agree the Chozo have the advantage when it comes to that. But without bringing equipment, etc. into play, strategy only goes so far. I highly doubt the Chozo have thought up unique formations, etc. It pretty much comes down to the fact that they have better gear.
Which brings me back to what I was saying. Samus' only real advantage is her gear. Like Dizzle brought up, she's got a better shield and she bristles with weaponry. I blame that on Nintendo being the company it is, but it's still there.
