Just to let you know SaTsuJiN that MC can survive in space without the need of a spacesuit and this is proven in Halo 2 when you actually walk out of the space centre, oh and the whole jumping out of the space centre with a bomb out into space and then landing on another alien ship.
Samus surivives in dead space on a daily basis.. so what is your point, really?

and to Mori : I'm thinking that samus' mystical chozo background is what leads her to be chosen more, because noone knows the limits of her, or her suits potential.. and I didnt say you were wrong for thinking MC would win (just as I dont think Im wrong for thinking Samus would win).. both characters clearly have different approaches to their battles.. as samus goes to desolate planets alone in search of her bounty, or a distress beacon.. where cheif usually runs aboard covenant starships with guns blazing

i found something about samus' timeline if it matters at all

Samus Aran, still a helpless infant, is orphaned after she becomes the sole survivor of a Space Pirate raid on her home planet of K-2L. A group of Chozo find Samus and take her back to their home on the planet Zebes.

Samus grows up among the Chozo, is trained as a warrior, infused with Chozo blood and given a Chozo made power suit.

The Space Pirates invade Zebes, killing the indigenous Chozo and setting up a base of operations there. It is likely that Samus has already left the Chozo or escaped during the Pirate invasion.

Galactic Federation discovers Metroid on the surface of SR-388. The ship transporting the Metroid to Federation science labs for study is attacked by Space Pirates who capture the Metroid and take it to Zebes.

Federation attempts to stop Pirates from cloning the Metroid fail. As such they hire a bounty hunter named Samus Aran to destroy the Space Pirates and the Metroid.

Samus penetrates Zebes, killing Space Pirate leaders Kraid, Ridley and Mother Brain as well as the captured Metroid and its clones. As she escapes her ship is shot down by Space Pirate patrols.

Samus, now with no ship or Chozo power suit, infiltrates a landed Space Pirate Frigate on Zebes and nearby Chozo ruins. She finds a new Chozo suit and commandeers a Space Pirate ship, escaping from Zebes.

The Space Pirates split into two groups, one to rebuild their base on Zebes, the other to find a new power source. They discover an element on the planet Tallon IV known as Phazon and begin genetic experiments with it.

To prevent the Pirates from breaching their cipher, the Chozo Ghosts who remain sane spread the 12 artifacts across Tallon IV.

Samus tracks the Space Pirates to Tallon IV and disrupts their operations. She finds the 12 artifacts and opens the seal to the impact crater. Within she seemingly destroys what the Pirates had named Metroid Prime, the source of Phazon on Tallon IV.

Data concerning events on Planet Aether yet to be declassified

Federation deems Metroids an unsafe life form and hire Samus to systematically eradicate the Metroid population on their home planet SR-388.

Samus is witness to the many stages of evolution the Metroids undertake in their own natural environment. In the deepest part of SR-388 Samus encounters the Metroid Queen and terminates it.

Samus witnesses the hatching of the final Metroid egg. The hatchling sees Samus and bonds to her like an infant to its mother. As she escapes the planet, she takes the Metroid hatchling with her.

Samus delivers the hatchling to Ceres Research Colony. The scientists make amazing discoveries about the Metroid and extract a copy of its DNA, sending it to the Federation.

Satisfied, Samus leaves Ceres, only to return shortly when the station sends out a distress signal. Ridley captures the Metroid Hatchling and takes it to Zebes. Samus gives chase.

Samus terminates Pirate life forms Kraid, Ridley, Phantoon and Draygon, gaining access to the Mother Brain’s lair: Tourian.

Mother Brain is about to eliminate Samus when the Metroid Hatchling protects its “mother” and is killed by a blast from Mother Brain. Samus destroys the Mother Brain and escapes Zebes before it’s destroyed by the Pirate’s self-destruct mechanism.

Samus wins

The Space Pirates invade Zebes, killing the indigenous Chozo and setting up a base of operations there. It is likely that Samus has already left the Chozo or escaped during the Pirate invasion.

Forgive me if I just sound ignorant here, as I'm not an avid Metroid player, but if the Chozo are such supreme masters of warfare, how were they wiped out by space pirates?

being out numbered by highly skilled warriors that are faster that than chozos are

Im pretty sure chozo were not wiped out.. they simply became so masterful at war, that they wished for peace.. and then left their planet in hopes of advocating universal peace.. which is why they gave samus her suit.. (to uphold peace in the universe).. this is evident by their pseudo presence in Metroid Prime.. they went to the planet Talon IV to live in peace and make primitive technology from simple tools (things of earthen nature.. and their powers most likely)

i found a new site http://www.metroidsource.com

Go Metroid Prime!!!

You said that MC can't survive under water, so my point is if that he can survive in space he can survive under water

Dude, Samus beats MC. The only thing that could actually count as a victory over Samus for him is this.

then... why in the game (during gameplay) isnt there an area that involves going underwater?...

meanwhile samus is walking amidst high levels of radiation, swimming through lava, and very deep water (not just shore-level water that the chief wades through)

You want facts? Fine.

Samus is much more agile, giving her the advantage in a melee battle.
Plus, the majority of her beams have unlimited ammo (except the dark beam etc in MP2). Not to mention, she has a load more missiles for homing.

And don't think MC will win the intelligence game either. Samus' games are much more than a straight up kill fest like Halo is.

The MC is also stronger than she is.

If you want to throw around facts, please use the ones that matter. Gameplay mechanics have nothing to do with the characters themselves; the fact that Bungie made their game to be played a certain way and that Nintendo made theirs to played another way is completely irrelevant in a character discussion. The MC is actually not a run-gunner by any means.
