I think with his regenerating shielding her weapon advantage is nulified as he could dodge a few rounds or hide behind something and his shields will come back where as there wont be any spare energy for SA to heal herself with. MC strength would wipe her out she couldnt stand a few hits from him if it goes close range

Master chief had faster reactions before he got his suit, with his suit his reaction time increased by a factor of five again, THEN with cortana in his head they increase again!!! and in halo2 his suit get upgraded and improved again I think you will find MC's reactions are too much for SA. who would move with all the grace of a sloth to MC
wrong.. Varia suit allows her to traverse extremely high temperatures without getting burned.. play Super Metroid again
Metroid Prime gives you an example of her traversing through radiation after she gets the phazon suit
Originally posted by SaTsuJiNThese suits were never said to be included in the fight I was going on the presumption that she started in her standard suit, otherwise shouldn't MC should have an over shield and be invisible to as these can be found in game.

still whats this got to do with her beating MC there not fighting in a volcano are they? and there's not going to be an abundance of phazon on the field. oh and whats the Chozo training with regards to phazon? as everywhere you went on echos they had just left it lying around waiting for people to misuse it.
Well.. even if we go on basic equipment.. who's to say whats fair?.. chief can pick up anything.. and samus starts (in terms of gameplay) with the regular power beam.. also.. what if one charge shot from the power beam ripped chiefs shield off.. and she meleed him?
and with regards to the overshield/cammo issue... samus' suit upgrades were permanent.. much like chiefs upgrade to his suit from halo 1 to 2.. whereas cloaking and overshield is a temporary pick-up
I think this is the most balanced fight on this entire sub-forum, since there is so much to discuss between the two characters
personally I think the original poster needs to return and give a setting.. or someone who is unbiased between the two characters (set the stage, weapons/abilities, conditions for victory etc)

when has SA ever meleed anyone??? she just shoots doesn't she? its not an ablity in the game. unless you care to enlighten me?? just as in the books MC can actually jump upto 3meters and run at about 30mph, however he doesnt seem that fast in the game.
I agree that there should be setting for the fight but I still havnt heard an argument on this thread that I have though would give SA the edge as everyone says, just people who dont understand MC abilities.
no one has even mentioned cortana untill I joined the thread (I don't think).
I just found an article you might like to read however I can't post it propery
dreamcastgameworld.com/article.php/id/44/
please add the http and the www yourself
this gives the account of a fight which would possibly take place however you could argue that she was under powered but so was he . I believe this to be an accurate portrayal of a fight between the two.
the fight sequence from the article :
The FightMC quickly charges and releases a Covie pistol shot and, reduces her energy down to 315. She retaliates by firing twice with the wave beam, reducing MC's shields to half capacity. MC takes cover in the tunnels surrounding the Brinstar area. He tosses one frag grenade behind him, leaving an explosion in Samus' face. Energy 220.
Samus wises up and fires a missile at MC in a straight shaft in the tunnel, and he ducks, but still feels the splash damage. His shields are now down to 33%. MC runs, and ducks behind an alcove, letting Samus dash past him - a chance for his shields to come back to 100%.
Now, he gets serious. Switching to the Rifle, mC slowly stalks his prey: a bewildered Samus, trying to find MC's tracks in the dirt. She sees something, and bends down to examine it. MC sees his chance, dashes forward, uncaring about the noise he makes.
Samus hears him and has time to fire a missile blindly at him before his rifle's butt comes crashing down on her helmet. The shot went wild, and shot a hole in the roof of the cavern, allowing a beam of light to invade the cavern, and bring to light what has trespassed in the final seconds.
Samus lay there, her suit offline, not even knowing if she was alive. Her world was snowy static, and then flicked off. The MC stood still, his armor beeping at him for losing his shields and most of his health.
The debris from Samus' cave-in pinned her suit down, and nearly crushed him. With time, the sound died out, and he turned, and walked out of the caves, looking for a ship home.

that is the most one sided crap article I have ever read.. "Samus bends down in bewilderment to examine the tracks"... oh yes.. as if she has never ever seen a footprint in her life... her suit easily translates chozo runic script within seconds.. what makes you think she'd have spent such a vast amount of time on a footprint.. give me a break.. whoever wrote that article is too much of a fanboy..
he started off nicely laying out the battle plan.. but it went to hell from there.. his entire battle description consisted of samus missing, dashing and firing blindly.. and I must say the flood are nothing compared to metroids

LOL I knew you wouldn't like it. but its true you never see samus use stealth tactics so how could she deal with it when master chief does? Also as i have tried to point out MC out classes her on tactics, reactions and strength. so when the fight takes place its no wonder she cant hit him. Many of his fights he uses these tactics. the fight dictated no scanning equipment, So she tried to track him and got jumped. Having read most of your post on this topic you seem incapable to giving MC any credit or advantages over SA, which he has! Agreed Samus in this fight didn't have full health of all her guns but master chief didn't have a shotgun which would so somewhere between 100-150 damage to her giving the damage the plasma would do.
And your right the flood are nothing like metroids. You actually have to try to kill the flood!
no one has even mentioned cortana untill I joined the thread (I don't think).
I mentioned Cortana ages ago and the fact that she could just hack Samus' suit and disable her.
Plus the height I gave MC a while back is actually his height so he is quite bigger than Samus. Thus her rockets would be smaller compared to MC.
Plus when you are playing Halo 2 you are only playing to your own reaction rates. Turn up the the response of the controller and if you were actually MC in real life, you could run into a room with a pistol and just get headshots all the time. Wheras in Metroid Prime Samus has to stop to actually aim at something instead of locking on and only getting body shots
Zen2nd I have had this discusion with my friends regarding cortanas hacking abilities and was told that SA had similar abilities so i didnt mention them as I saw that as a stalemate, I did however talk about her tactical guidence and MC increased reactions because of her. I agree with the rest you completly but remember MP is an adventure game. I would love to play MP with halo controls would make a more challenging game and you could feel satisfation when you kill something.

how can a hunk of metal be stealth.. that is just too dumb.. and believe me I can give chief credit.. but you're acting like MC is sam fisher, running around hanging off of scaffoldings, slitting peoples throats and jetting like gold sonic on crack.. which truely isnt the case..
In my opinion.. chief has power.. but samus has pure agility.. does chief flip with a suit on? nope.. does samus? she flips multiple times before touching the ground.. flipping requires.. you guessed it.. agility!.. yay~.. its not even about health measurements either.. the fight just played out shitty.. it was "OMG samus missed.. chief FTW" repeated down the whole page
and the flood get pwnt by metroids cuz metroids dont even bother mutating you.. they just suck the energy right from your cells til you pass out and go into a coma, eventually dying.. and it only takes a matter of seconds for this to happen to unprotected lifeforms.. samus has her suit on so its more difficult to kill her off.. so you can see why I sway a bit more towards samus..

MC is very stealthy just like the SAS cept he has a power suit. the reference to sam fisher is actually quite good(remember he was trained at a solider and takes tactics over gunning them down anytime!), in the book chief preforms too many stealthy moves(i don't have a high enough word limit). your impressions of chief are low as you have not read the book to understand some of his actions.
Sure SA can jump multiple times to reach another ledge but hows she goner use it in combat??? she will get shot by chief while doing so! MC's reactions are very quick. and any agile moves she can do he could avoid!
Have you played Halo1/2??? I have played Metroid Prime/Echos, and out of the two the flood win every time!. not only do they pack weapons.(anything the humans or covenant drop) but they can also jump vast distances and have power attacks. Also a dead flood "zombie" (for want of a better word) can come back to life in battle from another lil flood Although the metroid have more health then them, by the time any metroid noticed me on the game I had shot it once to make it recharge and the second shot finished it off.
For all the good there attacks do samus can easily kill them at a distance while MC is fighting at any distance. Thats why I sway towards MC.
Well lets see.
One metriod is no problem. 4 Metriods is a problem.
One Flood is no problem. 15 Floods is no problem. (Dont tell me they are, considering in the dreaded Library level, you face off 15 or so of them without any problem because they come directly towards you without any sort of plan. Metroids on the other hand can fly and attack from any plane)

yes cause the flood cant jump and they have to right up close to attack you...... 😕 (not unlike a metroid)!!!!
while the massively tactical metroids fly about and avoid all your attacks and can shoot you from a distance have some ummm.... uber shielding lol no metroids fly in a straight line and try to latch onto you, in which time you can jump away, charge your weapon and kill them.... these really deadly monsters are lame compared to the flood. At least the flood can attack chief while he runs. If you find metroids hard maybe you should try moving in battle with them! 😆
BOTH are not really hard to kill, however if you had said flood are nothing compared to space pirates then maybe you had a point some of them can get challenging. However the flood are clearly the harder enemy between them and metroids.
Which Game would you say has a more advanced AI system for the enemy you face? and which would you say is harder on its harder setting. I personally have played metroid on hard and found the enemy do a bit more damage. where as legendary on halo is where the challenge exists
4 metroids at once don't make me laugh.....
