I would really doubt the Metroid's ability to still life drain if something extremely nasty was hooked up to their central nervous system.

I don't think that the flood would have the time to hook up to the metroids' Central Nervous System. Metroids appear alot faster than the infection forms of the flood. Even then, the flood would most likely still be susceptible to the life drain.
