Sense of Humour

This is an off question but how do you do that spoiler thing?

http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f31/t3161.html

Thanks.

Something I want to share with you folks. Outside of KMC I would be the last person to censor anyone much less tell someone that racist jokes are fouled. If people think I'm inmoral or distasteful.......well, I'm sorry thats just me.

And in the spirit of Bad humor here are some of my own. But please don't highlight if you're easily offended by bad jokes.

[edit note] Bad jokes removed.

Let me get something straight. There will be NO racist jokes on these forums.

Is this a gay joke?

😉

heh thinking about it, one of the worst jokes i can ever remember, i got it off KMC!

im not going to repeat it though, most definatly will cause offense. probably.

Afro_Cheese> I don’t like censorship. But I don’t like it when people abuse freedom of speech, and we’re dealing with people who’ll be quick to take away MY freedom of speech.

Like i wrote above: Humour – GOOD humour – doesn’t need to belittle or suppress colour or gender. It’ll make ALL people laugh. It unites us. Racism – well, it divides us.
If someone CONSTANLY makes racist or sexists jokes I want my RIGHT to object. If a joke making fun of gays, blacks or women happens once i a while – who cares?

But think about the recipients. What are these jokes intended to DO? What is the point of them? No – not the laughing part – think about it.
Would you make a paedophile joke?
Why not?

Could you pm that joke? 😉

I don't agree with anyone telling you that you can't object to these jokes either. I don't agree with racism, as in hatred for another race or homophobia as in hatred for homosexuals. But comedians like Chris Rock pointing out the flaws in his race and others isn't inciting hate, it's just a joke.

Good humor is in the eye of the beholder.. there is no "it can't be good humor if it talks about this and this.." because good humor is all an opinion. I may think South Park is funny while you think it's trash. I think the best thing to do if you don't like the jokes someone is getting is ignore it, because they are telling the jokes to get a reaction. Let's face it, controversy draws a crowd. If you choose not to ignore it and to speak out against it that's fine, just don't try to stop them from telling the jokes just because it offends you. I mean if you want to stop racist jokes.. where exactly do you draw the line for acceptable or unacceptable?

Totallly WRONG! To tell you to "you are overracting-be quite" is also CENSORSHIP. Speak your mind and let your thoughts be free. Along with your sense of humor. Only sensitive Conservative numbskulls like the MPAA want to censor whatever I find entertaining. A movie has racial jokes therefore it should be banned??? Hell no! That's BS!

Then I would like to ask you the question The Omega asked -
- What are these jokes intended to DO? What is the point of them? No – not the laughing part – think about it.

- Would you make a paedophile joke?
Why not?
Waiting patiantly for an answer.

Humor and nothing else. Again, anyone that is reasonable can tell the difference between a comedy and a drama.

I wouldn't, but if someone does and is funny I'll laugh. If I don't find it funny I won't laugh. Just because I laugh I support Pedophiles? Come on! That's silly.

People do tell pedophile jokes.. especially with the MJ incident and the catholic priests.

Precisely! I laugh at the Michael Jackson jokes and I think he is innocent until proven guilty. And like I said earlier outside the boards I don't censor people for their style of humor.

Good humour, clever humour, does not need to use people of other color, gender or creed in order to make something funny.

This has nothing to do with drama or comedy - those jokes are doing exactly what racism is doing - it is underlining the difference between us! Its underlining the fact that we are different because we dont look the same, that we are different because we have different religion or nationality - its underlining all those! And its promoting racism.

Actually you are supporting that kind of behaviour. By laughing you are approving it - so yeah.

Oh there are peadophile jokes on the accounts of the peadophile, but would you ever hear one on the accounts of the victim? Why not?

Exactly *how* do you mean on accounts of the victim?

I highly disagree. A former teacher of mine is extremely liberal and she literally broke down crying because students told racial jokes in school.

Personally, I have no problem with racial or ethnic jokes. "You only say that because you're white!" Hmm...whenever I have seen black people performing standup comedy, on whom they have preyed? The perceived uptightness of Caucasians. Ever see the movie Undercover Brother? Hilarious movie. Lots of white jokes. I enjoyed it a lot.

So by that logic Chris Rock and any other comedians using jokes base on race aren't funny. Well, too bad I find them funny and will continue to laugh.

No lil, people that get offended are making them look racist. And I see that certain people DO possess a conservative side to themselves. That's why censorship will never go away. People are just too delicate and touchy.

I heard this one waaaaay too many times. This reminds me of the people that say that Violent video games creates violence in children. Incredible the world we're living in.

Making fun of the victim - why isnt that funny? People posted jokes making fun of millions of Jews being killed in WWII - and people found it funny, did they not?

The basic point is that it's all about intent. Political correctness has overrun this country. I think that's a big part of the back lash that has been observed in the last election. I've told black jokes to black people before. Why did it go over well? Because they knew me.

In other situations, such jokes would not go over as well.

Political correctness is a plauge. There has to be an understanding. Why is there not? Because not everyone is smart enough to realize that.

As an individual studying the psychology (I always get to mention this and apply my knowledge), actually, you ARE encouraging it. Your laughter is positive reinforcement to the joke-telling. And children who do play violent videogames or see violence on television are more likely to imitate violent acts--in their play. Now, as an individual who enjoys a good videogame, that's not to say that videogames were the cause of Columbine and such. Videogames happened to be an adequate scapegoat. 🙁

I would laugh if the joke was humorous. "OMG TAHT MAKS U A BAD PERSON!!!!1111!!!!" No, I just appreciate wit and play-on-words...even if it happens to be the aforementioned "cock lol! fart" humor.

Why do people laugh at jokes about the Jews dying? I think it's the shock factor. How often do you expect to hear someone say, "What's the difference between a Jew and a pizza?" and then give the answer. (By the way, that IS a horrible joke, which is why I won't give the punchline.) I mean, when jokes are just for fun, it's OK, I can take a few, but when they are used for malice--we were discussing the above joke being told to a Jewish woman whose parents were survivors of the concentration camps--that's bad.

Racial jokes don't bother me. They never have and never will. Maybe black/Mexican/Asian people feel differently, but you have no idea how often I've heard:

"Hey, how do you keep a Dutch boy busy?"
"Gee, I don't know."
"Tell him there's a penny in the corner of a round room!"

I'm not boo-hooing over that.

Political correctness is a plauge. There has to be an understanding. Why is there not? Because not everyone is smart enough to realize that.

Indeed it is, and indeed they are. That's why I never say "hyphen-American" and I rarely refer to white people as Caucasian--if black people can call me Caucasian, why can't I call them Negro? Ah, yes, PC. 😘
