The more you think about them, and if you actually understand the "stereotype," it is funny.
I mean, just because a stereotype applies to a certain minority, that does not mean that you feel a repressed hatred for said minority group. It is merely a joke at their expense, and I would hope that the minority group would understand there is "no hard feelings." However, sometimes the intentions behind a joke of the aforementioned nature are to belittle an ethnic, religious, what-have-you group, and that is when it becomes prejudice.
As I stated in the past, there is a fine line.

Heres the thing - you think and believe what you like - the racism in America is inherited and to be perfectly honest, after reading some of the replies here, its mind numbing.

thats not necessaruly the politcally correct thing to do depending on your views..look at republicans and there views on gay marriage.
just because racial jokes are on tv dont mean were not PC...thats tv not the real world....a white person cant say the same jokes as a black person, a black person cant tell a joke about a jewish person, you cant flirt with a girl because you might get slapped with a sexual harrassment suit...of course people do all these things if they know the people there with and those people can take a joke but you if you do these things at a party or at work you can get fired

It was socially acceptable to have a black person as a slave in the 1800's. However, we as a race have evolved since then. The voices of reason have protested such a terrible act. Nobody deserves to OWN another human being.

It was socially acceptable to HAVE racism in the 1800s. And as people have suggested, it seems to them if its made sociably acceptable it would be the end of all our troubles - which is just utter crap!

Telling a racist, ethnic, religious-slandering joke is just a means of entertainment, much like telling a joke about how a women belongs in the kitchen. They are just for shits and giggles, and SHOULD NOT be taken to heart as a means of demeaning the character of the group the joke is directed at.
