__I think it comes down to this: the best people to raise children are those who are passionately committed to doing so. The sexuality of the parent is insignificant in relation to that advantage/ability of apppropriate mindset. So is discrimination encountered outside the home. The motivation to nurture is just that valuable.
__It's not only about the need of children for caregivers; it's also about society's need for well-adjusted people who have benefited from supportive home environments. Don't waste a single potential one just because of the parents' homosexuality.
I agree entirely. We shouldn't go to the extreme were we say "Well, its either an abusive family or a gay one" as really, that is insulting to gay couples, comparing them with people who really shouldn't have children. Its been said before, but I'll say it again, the right to have a child is everyones, unless you are woefully unfit to do so. No evidence that a homosexual couple is unfit, they deserve, it is there right, to adopt children. I believe fully that a gay person can care for a child just as well as a heterosexual person. They will love it just as much as well.
And that is great news yerssot, now for the rest of the world to follow suit.

Ugh some of the replies in this thread make me sick. It's disgusting that in this day and age there are still people with such prejudiced ideas towards homosexuals. Why the hell can't a gay person be as fit to look after a child as a straight person?
They are both the same except one prefers to be with a person of the same sex. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I sure as hell don't see why that would make someone a crappy parent.
Look, back on to the topic, i have nothing against homosexuals, but i think it is hard to say wether they should be aloud to adopt, they should be aloud to do anything anyone else is aloud to do but on the other hand if you think about the hardship the children would face at school, children at school would not treat them well.
I got picked on in elementary and some of middle school. I got over it. Look, the only way people are ever going to start accepting homosexuality is to legalize gay marriage and gay adoption and basically give them all the same rights as us, and it will be a fight at first but the next generation will grow up with gay marriage/adoption/whatever being accepted and as a result become more accepting of homosexuals, and then maybe the kids of gay parents won't get picked on. Even if they do, I hardly see that as enough of a reason to deny foster kids of a loving family.

It's a long road....and the time will come when gays are accepted. Considering how long it took for people to accept women and blacks as equals.....I wouldn't be surprised if gays don't get fair treatment until some time after 2008
um no, Since I'm a Christian. I don't think the whole gay thing is right. but for me that is. I have plenty of friends that are gay, and honestly most of them are cooler and more down to earth that straight uptight ppl. I don't doubt the fact that gays can handle children, I know they can. I say go for it. Your sexual preference shouldn't effect your child-raising experience. Or half of the straight ppl shouldn't be able to watch kids with the kinky freaky things they do...
