Which is why Halo: CE's system link was so praised?
My point still stands. They are using a multiplayer option, they didn't invent it, but that's besides the point, even if it does help mine.
Halo: CE was used to establish Xbox live on the original Xbox, which was when the boom happened.
Halo's multiplayer is as praised as it is because of live, or it would have been AS praised ALWAYS. The reason EVERYONE praises it is because EVERYONE can play it, not everyone necessarily could without live, not as easy.

You said that Halo's multiplayer wasn't even halo. I said that you claimed that to avoid all of the games great aspects. You responded to my post by saying that Bungie didn't invent multiplayer, they just use it.
GoW didn't invent 3rd person shooters and Halo didn't invent multiplayer so I guess neither games should get any credit, right?

Halo: CE was never used to establish Xbox live on Xbox. WTF are you talking about? Only way you could play Halo:CE online was with Xboxconnect and that was fanmade. It had lots of lag because of dialup connections and it was somewhat annoying to get running.
Halo 2 is what gave everyone a taste of Halo's multiplayer fun factor via Xbox live because pretty much everyone could easily get online and proceed to shoot the crap out of each other.

The reason Halo is most praised is multiplayer on live, that isn't Bungie's doing, it's live. Bungie didn't create live, they created Halo and used live.

I'm not giving Gears credit for creating anything they didn't, just doing it better than anyone else who has.
Again, posts are for reading.

So you just confirmed my point. It all kicked off majorly with live because EVERYONE could get involved, and that is when the Halo boom happened, that's when EVERYBODY could pick up and play with ANYBODY, and that's when the hype started steamrollering.
It wasn't Bungie's creation. Give them credit for using live unlike anybody else had previously, sure, but don't give them credit as if they created it, as if Live multiplayer is an INHERENT reason as to why Halo is great as an initial, single player game.
That's my point: "Halo is great cos of multiplayer.", no. "Halo's multiplayer is great.", is what should be said. The single game isn't any better because you can play with others.

I thought wrong.
Meh, maybe 50. It was only a little hole in the wall game crazy at a Hollywood video.

But the actual hype started at Halo:CE. And Halo:CE didn't have any online whatsoever. So the hype actually started before LIVE.

We're not talking about overall hype, we're talking about the main reason the franchise is praised, which is undeniably multiplayer.

Undeniably multiplayer?I loved Halo before I even played on Xbox live. I just constantly played Campaign over and over again because it was, and still is a lot of fun. I know a lot of people who are like that too.
But meh say what you will.
The main reason it is so praised in general, not "What do a couple of people think?".
I'm not saying the contrary isn't possible. If you like Halo, if you enjoy it, go for it, have fun and have a blast. I love Gears online, a lot do not. Way of the world.
I just have a distaste for misplaced credit and hysteria.
