Halo 3

HE was, the only thing I hated was the Krill, just because it was annoying having to shoot the gas tanks.

Yeah, Halo 3 isnt bad, dont get me wrong but something about the gameplay of Gears Of War that makes co-op such a better experience.

With Gears of War, we're shouting out strategies and calling out enemies and yelling at each other for screwing up, while when we played Halo 3, it was basically like both of us are playing the singleplayer game and it just happens to be at the same time.

It could be because Gears Of War is very visceral and you can see where your friend is shooting at, while in Halo 3, the gun sounds and gun effects are not nearly as good. I was shooting a turret in Halo 3 and my friend didnt realize I was firing it because he couldnt the tracers while in Gears, he knew where I was shooting at and could do the same.

The difference between GOW and Halo online co-op is that in GOW it didn't really feel like co-op. Dom was a part of the story. He was always destined to be there with you...AI or fellow gamer. So it obviously feels smooth and more natural than having the Arbiter tag alongside the Master Chief.

With that said I love both games.

Overall I prefer Halo 3's story mode, and gears of War's matchmaking system, plus I like the fact that Gears of war is a more team-oriented game and so forces you you to work together, whereas Halo is all about the "lone wolf" mentality.

You obviously haven't played against MLG teams or hardcore Halo gamers. The lone wolf mentality gets you no where when 4 Battle Rifles destroy you in a second the moment you pop your head solo.

Personally I think Halo 3 is more enjoyable while playing by yourself through the campaign.

I didnt.

I thought the campaign was enjoyable for Halo 3, but during co-op, we didnt have nearly the fun GoW was.

Overall, I say GoW was more enjoyable during the singleplayer, while Halo 3 is more enjoyable online.

GoW wasnt just rinse and repeat. Yes, you constently duck and cover but in Halo you constently do the same things also. Instead of going into cover, you run back and wait till your health replenshes and then go back.

The action is not nearly as intense as Gears Of War also.

Overall, I had alot more fun in singleplayer for GoW and especially co-op. Co-op in Halo 3 wasnt really that fun, it was basically playing SP again, while Gears Of War added something new while playing with an extra player.

No, no. I mean I had more fun playing Halo 3 by myself than I had playing it with people. I enjoy the GOW campaign more with or without others.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

One thing though, does Halo 3 SP Co-op get harder with the more players join?

It's supposed to, I didn't notice, though.

I have, and I have been destroyed. I already know for a fact that playing lone wolf gets you killed against MLG's, but honestly 90% of the time you're just playing some random joe on LIVE, not an MLG with his buddies, so you don't have to worry about it. Though yesterday I played against four bungie guys who helped build Halo 3's matchmaking system.. I kicked there asses in team objective.

And before anyone says anything.. I don't like the lonewolf mentality. I'm a team player, which is why I prefer GOW's multiplayer to Halo's.

True, but in Halo's single player action because of the fact that combat doesn't revolve around hiding behind cover, it's much easier to get caught out in the open and then gunned down while diving for cover, especially in Legendary. In Gears of War even on the hardest difficulty it's too easy to simply hide behind your cover and duck down every time your health is halfway down. And because once you hide behind cover your practically invulnerable from harm you're allowed to sit back and relax for a moment while they shoot at you're cover, then when you're ready to fight you just pop your head back out. I actually beat the last two acts of Gears of War with a buddy on the hardest difficulty without either of us dying once.

Well that's good for you.

Me and my buddy died a bunch of times.

There completely different games.

I am as well one of the 2.07%, I feel happy about that. 🙂

As much as I enjoyed GOW's campaign, I like Halo's more, hard to figure out for me, I thought Halo's was much more intense.

Indeed.

No one ever said otherwise though 😬

My point was it's unfair to label Halo 3 as worse then Gears because the campaign is so linear when GOW's campaign is just as linear, only difference is GOW's campaign is also easier, at least in my experience.

I didnt label Halo 3 worst because it was linear.

Every shooter is linear.

I said I liked co-op Gears of War because it was made for co-op, while Halo 3 wasnt. I also liked Gears Of War SP.

the hype with this game damn near killed me
and then i was just phenomonally disappointed
biggest upset of the year....
halo 2 still wins in my opinion
halo 3 just has better graphics...

I don't really like Halo 3's graphics, mainly the environments. Why does grass spontaneously grow before your eyes when you enter a grassy area?

its called draw distance.. and thats the way they maintain a rate of 60 frames per second..

unless you want the game to stutter over some grass?

does that mean anything about the xbox's personal power? not really.. its actually the fault of bungie's inefficient graphic engine

everything is about how you handle your resource libraries

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Bungie's art design.

It looks to sterile.

Halo 3 only runs at 30 fps.
