The Wii has inferior graphics and yet people go "oh but if your a gamer its the gameplay that counts not the graphics". Where has all that gone?

Plus Bungie said themselves that those beta graphics don't represent the games final graphics.

of course the halo 3 gameplay will be its most important aspect, and since that documentary speaks of more "brute" weapons coming into the weapon pool.. I'm of the impression that it can be good

or we may get stuck with another halo 2 situation where everyone runs to the spawn with the best weapon and ignores the weapons that hardly do any damage (aka halo 2.5, as opposed to a true sequel in terms of gameplay) due to poor design decisions..

and this has nothing to do with wii, so lets not get sidetracked... this is the machine that brings us gears of war.. and gears of war has set an expectation bar for visuals.. at least for me it has

as for beta not representing final.. here's hoping.. cheers

Lol, I hate when everyone runs for the sniper 🙁.....at least it gives me time to pick up the plasmas and betray the guy who gets the tank! hahaha woot

I play tha game for its campaign, the online is just a nice treat. So, I prefer the gameplay over its graphics, but the graphics are important too, Gears of War had amazing graphics, but Bungie isn't using that engine, they are using their own "Halo 3 engine." And the announcement trailer oh so long ago, you remember that? That is the in game graphics, they said it themselves.

Some things I most definitely like :

- shields that prevent fire passing through them (be it the sphere-shield or the shielded doorways)

- charged plasma pistol shot temporarily disabling vehicles (why cant there be more of this creative gameplay thinking!?)

- spiked grenades for those corridor intense campfests

- ATV (I been wanting that since I played the first halo ><😉, though I 'was' hoping for a 2-seater.. sortof like a slower ghost

- saving the replays war3 style (i.e. in-game engine replays)

- support weapons that enter you into 3rd person perspective (very nice.. this opens up other creative possibilities)

- vehicle landmines, for those pesky crazed drivers.. though I bet its going to spawn a fair share of griefers (team killers)

Some things I dont :

- Q3 style jumper pads... they make you headshot fodder because their trajectory is predetermined.. I dont see how anyone gets a thrill out of killing a pad victim, its just too easy.. if they randomize the trajectory a tad I could see it becoming more interesting

- Plasma nades.. from the videos the blast radius seems to be reduced dramatically.. so this is iffy (dunno if it has or hasnt been nerfed)

- Sniper rifle still seems to be a nub cannon.. no recoil, multiple shots.. bleh.. I feel it should be balanced as the beam rifle has.. where you have to time the shots so you dont burn out, but of course have it logically work with the human technology (maybe firing too fast in succession decreases accuracy, or causes the barrel to smoke for a few seconds which reveals your location).. I just want 'something' more interesting than pow pow pow pow , reload , repeat , no consequence.

- Melee.. I like it.. but it still feels shallow.. I know they probably wont change it to make it more fun, but eh.. it is what it is right?

- Vehicle Hi-jacking... I like that this action can be performed.. but I think the driver should be able to fight back instead of being forced with the choice of "get out or be dead".. 😬

A gamespot article also gave their opinion on visuals :

Visually, the Halo 3 beta looks impressive. Yes, it looks like a higher-resolution version of Halo 2, but the textures and details are razor sharp, and there's a lush quality to the world that wasn't there before. You'll run through fields of flowers or your body will float in a tranquil pond. The high dynamic range lighting in the game also provides a realistic look to the lighting and the world. Meanwhile, there's a smoothness and fluidity to everything now that makes battles fun to watch.

"- ATV (I been wanting that since I played the first halo >< ), though I 'was' hoping for a 2-seater.. sortof like a slower ghost"

Though you can get two people on one can't you? I remember seeing a guy hanging onto the back of and on the same team too so he wasn't hi-jacking.

Enjoy!

I vote yes

Oh, definately yes, I love the look of the ATV!!!

I am not so sure about the third person picking up turrets thing though, seems a little iffy to me. 😬

Just 1 mother ****ing day...

I cannot wait...

Anticipation is driving me nuts....*_*

I know! I am going crazy!!! nuts nuts nuts

Oh, and for you graphic winers:

Q: How close to final is the Beta build?

A: The Beta build is a Beta build. There’s a lot of work yet to be done and many things can and will change. These include graphics, performance, features, controls, in short, everything you’re seeing in the Beta is subject to change.

Oh, and for you graphic winers:

Just because someone has a different opinion then you doesn't mean they're "whining." Last I checked, KMC isn't fourth grade, yes?

And as a side-note, keep in mind that this Beta is going to be the most absolutely polished Beta the gaming community has seen. It could spell disaster for Bungie if they supplied an underwhelming demo, so don't expect to see a huge jump in graphics by the time the final product rolls around.

The ATV is a two-seater, and don't forget, the "Film" feature is more than just a replay: you'll be able to switch player viewpoints (view the game from their perspective), move around with a free camera, and rewind, slow, fast forward, pause, etc. I'm actually really excited about this, too.

I just want to ride The Mongoose and shoot me some Covenant.

Alright, maybe wrong word, but still, they were saying that the graphics weren't very good, which in actuality, they actually are pretty good, not Gears graphics, but good nonetheless.

I can't wait to hi-jack the rear-seat passenger, turn around, and shoot the driver in the head while in motion. 😛

Fair enough.

Is this going to be the last one?

"It will be the conclusion to this story arc."

For Halo 3, I think the graphics has to be at the level of Gears.

It's the 360's killer app.

I personally dont care that much, but if those graphics turn into what they are...I'm going to be disappointed.

I heared that SP graphics are better which is key because graphics do relate directly to the SP experience.

That is why there are mix feelings at the moments from video game sites and fans. I still feel that there is much work for the game to be done. Graphics wise? well they have plenty of time to polish it. The end product will be the real decisive factor.
