Spike TV's Blade Movie Announced
Spike TV will adapt the successful theatrical franchise Blade, as a two-hour, action-adventure, television movie in early 2006.
Today it was announced that Spike TV would be developing the next Blade film in a exclusive TV movie effort. Spike TV will adapt the next Blade, as a two-hour, action adventure, television movie in early 2006. The announcement was made by Spike TV President Doug Herzog. Spike TV also had this to say;
"The action-adventure genre is largely ignored in today's television landscape, and we know it is something that our male viewers really want," said Herzog. "Blade is a great movie franchise with an established brand that men already recognize and identify with."
The blockbuster Blade film starred actor Wesley Snipes and spawned two sequels. Combined, the films have earned more than $400 million worldwide.
Blade the TV film will be produced by New Line Television and Marvel Studios. David Goyer is executive producer. He penned the three screenplays for the Blade trilogy, and produced and directed the last installment of the franchise, Blade: Trinity.
ya i heard about that made for tv shitfest known as the new blade movie, i mean its clear what hollywoods doing now, they are sucking all the money they can out of this franchise at the expense of the quality of the film, how can they do that, i know the wordl revolves around money and the directors know that doing this will get them a shit load of it. But the quality of the film wil be on par with the third one, over computer generated fight scenes, weak plott, i can only imagine the bad guy, i eman draculas dead right, so doesnt that mean that theres no more vampires? isnt the myth if you kill dracula all vampires return to normal or die, and is aw a post up there for werewolves, WHY, WHY WHY, that would be the ultimate cop out, it would however be fun to see whistler come back, ya know maybe he dove into the lake when the building exploded, who knows, but stil i am not looking forward to this movie at al

yes a blade TV movie will suck
whistler is DEAD. he was sitting down when he pushed the button for the explosions. if he comes back, it would be very stupid to try and make up something for him being alive --again.
There are no more vampires after Drake died. the last one is blade. Drake did say that he was a new type a vampire that the vamps were always looking for. so maybe they'll use that.
Blade fights lots of things including demons. i don't think lycans would be too much of a stretch.

yes the reapers were intentional mutations of vampires who were stronger and more vicious but still had the weakness of sunlight.
In the alternate ending of Blade:Trinity the Nightstalkers can be seen battling werewolves in a casino. I am almost sure that Spike TV would and will make werewolves eventual adversaries of Blade in the television film and series.
Although the most disappointing thing about this is not that the next Blade film will never reach theatres or that the franchise has been wasted on what executives believe is a good idea. Actually they are, but what also makes me upset is that we will never see Snipes as Blade again and instead we will see a cheap imitation of him who will ruin the character even worse than TV can.

yes i am saddened at the fact that blade will be ruined by an actor who can't have the same presence and ability to portray blade as wesley did.
well he's sueing the company that produced the film (new line i think), so i wouldnt count on him being asked back...
well.........he's suing on very good premises........mostly surrounding the writer/director which he very much dislikes, whom very much dislikes him........and will not be involved in the next Blade movie period. On top of that........I thought Spike TV acquired the rights to produce a tv Blade movie (and series).........where does New Line Cinema play into the picture at all (other than Spike TV paying them for the rights to use the character/name)?
Last I heard.......Snipes contract for Trinity also included another Blade sequel. So New line doesn't want to make another Blade movie.......doesn't release Snipes from his contract. I'm sure those execs. over at Spike TV were not dumb enough to pay for the copyright/licensing of the Blade name and character but not pay to buy out Snipes contract for the movie.
