No, you used photoshop to filter the image. The term "photoshopped" is applied with the meaning of taking time and effort to produce a work of art in the program. Not "I used photoshop therefore it's photoshopped" which seems to be the common misconception.

Syren was indirectly correct with ONE thing. You can't say "Paint Shop Pro'd it" because the term "photoshopped" isn't derived from a name of a program, it's attached to a process, a process that girl did not go through. Like it or not, that's how it is.

Knowing a few chords on guitar doesn't make you a guitarist or a musician, it means you know a tiny bit about an instrument, just like her. Except her instrument isn't musical. Using photoshop doesn't make her a photoshopper, just like knowing chords doesn't make you a guitarist. I can sit here and tell you about piano chords, techniques etc, but knowing them doesn't make you a pianist.

Playing Mary Had a Little Lamb doesn't make you a pianist. I've worked for a long time to get where I am on piano, so for someone to play a couple of TV tunes and say "I'm a pianist" would be very disrespectful, and false.

The same applies to photoshop.

My big brother is addicted to it! Not on poker stars though!

yes it wud be disrespectful to say you are a pianest. playing little mary had a lamb does not make you a proffesional pianist, but you are still playing the piano. regardless.

my point being..

if someone photoshops a pic for the first time, it would be disrespectful like you say, to say that they are a professional photoshoper. but no one
has said that. If they say that they photoshopped a pic, then thats ok.

In no way am I saying that she was malicious in her carelessness, but that's exactly what it was.

It may very well be ok to you, to others it isn't and they are right to feel that way.

She didn't state that she was a 'photoshopper/manipulator', she said she 'photoshopped' the pic. She did, she used the Photoshop program to manipulate a picture, therefore she 'photoshopped' it. There's no denying that.

I wasn't taking swipes at Lana, I have no need. She knows perfectly well that I wouldn't take swipes at her, I was merely stating that she came across as obnoxious regarding something that hardly matters.

What?

No. You messed around with some images, that doesn't equate to photoshopping. Just like messing around with a guitar doesn't make you a guitarist.

If that's what the term "photoshopped" meant then you'd be correct. People who put time and effort into making digital art on ANY program, use the term "photoshopped", it's not directly connected to the use of the program, it's just a program that can be used in said process.

Just a heads up for you there.

Since when do you have the right to call people out on being obnoxious and cite it as a negative? You're obnoxious and hypocritical, very much so and you admit that you possess such qualities. So I'm wondering who died and made you Miss Regulator?

You live in a glass fortress, dear. Don't be throwing stones around.

-AC

Apparantly using the term "photoshoped" to describe a picture slightly altered using a filter in the program named "photoshop" is incorrect. Is this correct?

LEAVE IT AT THAAAAAA!!!!!

Yes, because there's a big difference between making a low-level signature banner, filtering a pic and making a piece of digital art that has taken many hours or sometimes days.

D.A is full of photoshoppers, this thread is not.

Well, in that case I'm obviously wrong. I did think that the term 'photoshopped' was directly linked to the use of the program. Seems logical to me, but that's probably because I wouldn't consider myself a pro photoshopper. I have, however, used the program to manipulate pictures in the past, shown Lana and she hasn't picked me up on the use of the word 'photoshopped'. Why get a bee in her bonnet about it now?

Everyone has the right to call someone out when they're in the wrong. I accept other people's criticism of me when I'm out of line, fair's fair.

As I said, if Lana had a problem I'm sure she'd beat me for it.

Well I'm downloading photoshop now (9mins to go) so how long do I have to do it before I become a Photoshopper?

Until you're amazing, obviously 😂

Doesn't mean she condones your use of the word does it? No. Infact, she doesn't and she has said so. I suspect that's why YOU'VE got a bee in your bonnet about it, because you are someone who misuses the term.

We both know this isn't true don't we? Yet MORE hypocricy. You accept criticism well? Only if it's to your liking, because we know you don't accept all criticism, fair and correct or not. How many times have I called you out fairly and correctly only to be met with a temper tantrum to rival Hurricane Katrina, PURELY because my way of doing so wasn't to your liking? Ironically later followed by "You were right, I'm sorry for flying off handle".

Yes, exactly. Sort out the hypocricy please.

I see... well I won't call myself photoshopper until AC says I'm good enough!

I'm not even a photoshopper, but that's the point.

I've made a few of my sigs using filters and "effects", but I'm no photoshopper. I know those who are and I know just how much time and effort it takes, so I am against people wrongly putting themselves on that level or under the same umbrella.

-AC

Surely using photoshop makes you a photoshopper?
