Uhhh....adding a filter over parts does not count as Photoshopping, I'm sorry to inform....it counts as clicking a single button. Photoshopping something means you put a decent amount of work into it to make it look totally different than it did originally.
Lana, you patronised her. Why you felt the need to belittle her just to make a point is beyond me, she posted a picture that she'd edited in Photoshop, used the correct term grammatically and you responded thus.

Sorry, but I spend a lot of time Photoshopping things (like, really working at it), and so it annoys me - and pretty much any other photomanipulator - when someone uses a filter and says they Photoshopped it.
Why did it annoy you? She did nothing wrong.

AC, please don't try and turn this into something it's not. I still think you're wrong and no amount of baiting is going to make me retreat.
What are you not getting? There's a clear cut answer to this. It's not subjective and it's not about opinion.
"Photoshopped" as it stands today, is not what she did. Therefore she was wrong.
It need go no further than that. Whether you like that or not is inconsequential.

I said that Dances_Inside stated that she 'photoshopped' a pic, which she did. I also said that she didn't call herself a 'photoshopper', because she didn't.
No, she did not photoshop the pic. Adhering to the current and more relevant meaning of the term without being ironically anal and going back to "ancient" origins, she was wrong to claim she photoshopped it. End of story.

And again I will ask who you think you are to tell people that they reacted overly harsh and should have known better? Especially when you condone people's harsh reactions if they are to your liking.

No she didn't what, exactly? She said she 'photoshopped' the pic. Yes, she did. No trouble here.No one's told a digital artist how to define her own field, the point was that said digital artist chose to beat on someone because they used a term that could be considered correct. Obviously, it is still considered correct by quite a few people.
I'm just not used to seeing Lana jump down someone's throat for no reason.
Case in point...she did NOT Photoshop the picture, she may have used the program to create that effect but she clicked one button...seriously that's all she did.
An actual piece of work is Photoshopped, her picture was edited, nothing more.
Why are you beating the dead horse anyways? The post in question was posted days ago and nothing more was said. Now you bring it up again, then apparently dragged my name into it as inflating Lana's ego ffs.
I agreed with Lana because she's right. Filters on top of a picture is not Photoshopped.

Not by the relevant and current term she didn't.
Which would suggest that you are going by an irrelevant term for your own purposes, which is pointless.

She's a very talented and well versed digital artist, are you? Is Dance Inside? Is Syren?
All signs point to no, so Lana's word is more credible than yours. Sorry.

Correct. Further, it's not considered correct, it is correct.
To photoshop is generally accepted to mean to digitally edit, there's no debate over that.
As I mentioned earlier, under TMA 1994 s1(1), a trademark becomes void if it becomes generic, and this happens when it no longer distinguishes the goods from those of other businesses.
Adobe actively acknowledge that the term now simply means to digitally edit, which is why they are desperately trying to halt the usage for fear of losing their trademark.

So she didn't 'adhere to the current and more relevant meaning', so what? Jesus, she hasn't murdered anyone. It's not that big of a deal.

Shut up with that, Lana was overly harsh. If I were overly harsh and Lana picked me up on it I'd apologise, because Lana is someone I am quite happy to listen to.

But they are the same thing, though one use of the word applies to a specific program.
Photoshopping/manipulating take an extensive amount of work and creativity. Filters are simple editing.

I neither patronized nor belittled her - I pointed out that what she said is incorrect. And you decided to jump down my throat because of it.
And why it annoys me? If you had ANY idea of how much crap people who work in digital art get, you would know why. Because of people who put a cheesy filter on an image and say they're an artist, a lot of people completely deride ALL digital art and say it's not art because the program does all the work. You can try and argue this point all you want but you will not be able to as it is the honest truth and is something I've had to deal with for several years now.

Really? I didn't know that... so it's not just the egotistical artists who are offended, then?

Lana was NOT overly harsh though, she simply pointed out an incorrect word usage.

You may not have been intentionally patronising but that's how it came across.
I'm sorry if I've upset or hurt you in any way, I care about you. But I cannot understand why you're becoming so wound up over someone using the widely accepted term for editing a picture when she meant no offence by it.

So that means she hasn't "photoshopped" it as it means today.
What Firestar is saying is correct in that there is more than one definition, but both are not applicable. The one that is does not run alongside the way Dance Inside used it, so therefore she didn't photoshop the pic.

Exactly, you listen to who you want to hear. If someone comes in and happens to spit harshness, you wouldn't say shit if you liked them. I've seen it happen with Firestar in this very thread. You condone that which you like and turn the hypocritical cheek to that which you don't.
So until you stop calling people out on that which you both condone and do yourself, I won't "shut up" about that.

She never said she was an artist. It's important to keep that in mind.
