Doesn't really make sense though, does it? A bouncer gets paid less than a cop, yet when a cop who's off duty does the same job(meaning at that time they're a bouncer, not a cop), they get paid more. It sounds to me like you're information on this is all from word of mouth, and very ill informed indeed.
As I have said numerous times already, I dont claim to know what is and what isn't legal, whether a cop is legally allowed to work as a bouncer or not.

Maybe there was alot of people in line, maybe the cop was helping out, maybe he is better trained at spotting fake ID's. Maybe the bouncer was a complete dolt. Maybe the bar had a special agreement, if such an agreement is allowed.

There are a whole lot of maybe's to considered here. I am only telling you what I have seen with my own eyes, you can choose to believe it, or dismiss it.

I think I'll go with the dismiss option.

as I knew you would.

Having been responsible for physical security and risk managment, I know that our off-duty police officers were not allowed to wear their uniform while working security as a second job. They were also not allowed to carry their gun while on duty at their second job. Oh, and they couldn't have facial hair or hair that extended below the collar of their uniform.

Now that you mention it, that also explains why ZZ-top were never moonlighting cops.

I never said I knew the legal parameters of the situation, all I said was that I see them all the time working security gigs in full uniform.

Then they'll get their ass fired and prosecuted.

The bar I was trying to get into, the cop was working alongside the bouncer, checking ID's. I never claimed he was the "bouncer", all I said was that he was the one who asked for my ID. Maybe he was overstepping his bounds, maybe not, I got in and got my drink on, thats all I care about.

Then there was probably a complaint about minors if he wasn't the bouncer.

If you see a cop working outside a bar or club, which I have a number of times, he's on duty and has been placed there by his/her precinct. Most likely due to previous incidents of crime. But he isn't, and can not be, in uniform and in the employ of the establishment.

Is this proof enough?

Fake.

Jk. 😉

I was thinking this as well...but I didn't want to "say" it because I wasn't sure of its validity.

well, I dont know if he was on duty, or if he was in fact working an extra job, I didnt know the cop who asked for my ID. And, as someone mentioned before, the bar very well could have had a rash of underage drinkers with fake ID's, and had a strict policy of checking all ID's, regardless of age, just to be sure.

BTW:You look JUST like my cousin. Not just similar, but like a clone........eerie.
