Promising Young Woman (2020)

Aka "#MeToo Revenge The Movie." It's great for reinforcing the modern feminist stereotype that all men are sexual predator monsters who have no self control whatsoever. I admit the movie has some clever writing, but it's all with that assumption. It's also run on the assumption that no one needs to see or know any actual evidence. So it's complete shit, really. It was difficult to stomach, but I actually watched the whole thing. And the title of the movie is fu#king terrible.

So, of course it gets a Best Picture nomination. 🙄

Sound of Metal (2019)

And this is why the Academy is so hit-or-miss. Because this is a great little movie about a drummer who loses his hearing. While I liked the lead actor, he seemed a little wooden at times that should have called for a little more emotion, but other than that it's a pretty perfect film and very deserving of a Best Picture nomination.

Stranger than Fiction (2006)

Something my wife wanted to see. I guess it was Will Ferrell's attempt at a semi-serious dramatic role? It wasn't bad, as long as you don't mind something a little quirky and unusual. I might have actually liked it a little more than my wife did.

Saint Maud (2019)

This is a pretty brilliant film.

So, to sum up some of my recent films...

Mortal Kombat 2021 - 6/10
Shadow in the Cloud - 8/10
Army of the Dead - 7/10
Promising Young Woman - 5/10
Saint Maud - 10/10
Stranger than Fiction - 6/10
Sound of Metal - 9/10
Those Who Wish Me Dead - 7/10

Army of the Dead, I enjoyed it, Not sure what most of the movie critics were expecting from it.

ATOMIC BLONDE

Great soundtrack.

Watched Conjuring 3. Was okay.

Agreed. Would have been nice if it was more horror, and less murder mystery, imo.

The Friends Reunion

It was fun. Some good nostalgia. Makes me want to go back and watch some more Friends episodes, which I think I might do.

The Rental (2020)

I thought it was pretty well done. Simple little thriller.

HELLBOY (2019)

I love you, Lobster Johnson!

^ 👆

Nomadland (2020)

It's slow and subtle and not flashy in any way shape or form, but it's good.

The New Mutants

Double-feature I watched ironically with a friend...

Cats (2019)

1/10 from me. I wish I could rate it lower, actually. I was hoping it would be funny bad, but it was really just pure cinematic pain. There is basically no discernable plot or premise and there is only about 60 seconds (tops) of actual normal dialogue (the rest of is singing and dancing). Pure and utter crap, and it's astonishing that it exists.

Iron Mask (2019)

With Ahnold and Jackie Chan. It was a Chinese production with about a dozen different production companies and a piss-poor attempt at doing a Pirates of the Caribbean type of action/adventure. Not good. And Ahnold and Jackie Chan weren't in it very much, though they did have one rather amusingly bad "fight." And the action scenes just kept deleting frames to make it more exciting. It was very distracting and annoying.

COLD PURSUIT

Kind of a poor man’s Fargo.

RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON

Pretty cool. Made me wish they’d make a Samurai Jack movie w. the same animation style.

Alive.
It was a pretty good movie.

What's the link I've been waiting to see this? Iron Mask

I saw Luca, the new Disney movie. It was pretty good. I also saw Frozen 2, way better then the first one.

Iceman (2014 film) and part 2. 8/10 action Asian pack movie. Entertaining

I also watch,

Forget the title. A asain movie about a writer who dreams of gold objects like treasure and wakes up with the things he dreams about. 9/10
