Last Movie You Saw? (Theater/Home)

Started by Patient_Leech695 pages

Avatar (2009) rewatch.

Want it fresh in my mind before 2 next weekend.

I think the CGI still holds up pretty well. There's a handful of times that the rendering looks unfinished or something (mainly in the jungle scenes) and of course some of the mouth movements are uncanny valley at times. But goddamn it's a fun action ride.

I'm still going to be curious how they resurrect Stephen Lang's character.. hm..

^^^Hope you enjoy it (the sequel).
I never saw the appeal of the original. Maybe if I’d been younger. Speaking of, I can’t believe it’s been 13 years between movies. Hopefully the third one will come out much sooner.

What happened with the original one, remind me?

I remember he was using some battle exo-suit with a big-ass knife?

He died in that fight? How exactly?

He was shot in the chest with big-ass Navi arrows.

It seems he somehow gets his consciousness transfered to an Avatar, but I don't know how he wasn't already expired.

It is crazy that it's been 13 years. I guess when you're James Cameron the studio will let you do whatever the hell you want.

Yeah, when it came out I was snobby and talked crap about it and just compared it to Fern Gully, etc, etc. (and it totally does owe a lot to Fern Gully) But I've grown more forgiving of it over the years. It's well-crafted pulp sci-fi. That being said I do hope some of the plot thickens with the necessity and economy of "unobtainium" (stupid name).

Thanks.

Yeah, very likely. Guess we need to wait & see.

Love or hate the story/acting, the movie did extremely well visually and showed us the true potential of 3D glasses... which was Cameron's intention from the beginning; he wasn't making it a secret.

Great many films tried to replicate those 3D effects with no success.

^^^Ha! I never really thought of a Fern Gully connection.
Nice catch!

Great

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

finally got around to seeing it.

THE CROODS 2

Way more fun and whacky than the original.

They went the extra mile on creature designs, which looked great,

Wish they’d make a Flintstones movie in this style.

I remember rather enjoying it. It was very fast paced and wacky for the kids, but still charming and coherent enough for adults. And NICOLAS CAGE!

CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS

I’d never seen this movie in all its 18 years.
It was actually pretty funny!

I'll try and see it next, maybe wash away the awful Christmas Story Christmas.

A.k.a. an extended infomercial to churn out writers for a desperate Hollywood who has their heads so far up their ass they just pretend a slap on live TV never happened.

^^^Damn, it was THAT bad??? 😕

I watched VIOLENT NIGHT yesterday.
Totally enjoyed it!

Hansel and Gretel tubi 9/10 (2013)

For a indie movie made on a dime budget this was pretty good. A lot of killing.

A Strange World/Anime (2022)

6/10

I like the scenery and the concept. I like the characters, however I find this story more for an adult audience and less for a child or teen.

Bad Santa. F#ck yeah. For X-mas. Puts me in the Holiday fu#king spirit.
