Last Movie You Saw? (Theater/Home)

Started by rudester695 pages

I introduced my mom to dubbed voice over, now shes addicted to watching international shows.

We started watching, a show called, Burn the House Down. Think its Korean?

Many years ago a young girls family was destroyed by her mom's best friend who secretly wanted her life. The house mysteriously burns down and her innocent mother is framed. The best friend marries her husband and moves in with her kids. She finds a way to throw out his own kids and they grow up in poverty, while her moms best friend steals everything that was once their's.

Years later she comes back as a servant in her father's mansion to find evidence linking her dads new wife to the original crime.

8/10

Really good so far.

The Family Man (2000)

Nicolas Cage for the win. There's no way I would have been able to sit through this chick-flick if it didn't have Nicolas Cage.

IMO, it's a very good film and one of Cages better films. Well written story and his acting is solid.

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON

Finally watched this (in the comfort of my own home) and, it was pretty good.

It’s something I’m glad I watched, though I doubt I’ll ever watch it again.

You're not wrong. Cage does deliver an impressive performance in it.

It's a good film, even if it IS a chick-flick.

Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)

Scorsese at the top of his game. This is honestly one of his best films, which is of course saying a LOT...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)

Watched with the kids. Pretty entertaining, I admit I laughed some. They liked it pretty well, I think. The animation is really cool. Nice to actually hear real teenagers voice the turtles for once... heh.

The Holdovers (2023)

It's good. A very good comedic drama. A Dramedy. 9/10.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)

I just finished reading the book for the first time, so decided to revisit the movie. I love it. Wish it had gotten sequels. 🙁 It wasn't even that big of a flop... odd.

The movie actually made me appreciate the book a lot more if that makes any sense.

Heli (2013)

"Heli must try and protect his young family when his 12-year-old sister inadvertently involves them in the brutal drug world. He must battle against the drug cartel that have been angered as well as the corrupt police force."

F**ked up story ad the setup to be a good film, but the execution and acting lacked a lot throughout. Felt like much of the cast were amateurs. 5/10 pinatas

Did show some guys

Spoiler:
pubes, cock and balls being covered in lighter fluid
and then set on fire, For those who are into that sort of kink.

It totally makes sense. Because sometimes reading the humor on the page is different from seeing it play out in a film.

I will say I found myself laughing at depressed ol' Marvin a lot more than I thought I would when reading the book. 😂

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

The Tim Burton/Johnny Depp one. Decided to show it to the kids and I thought it might be fun to revisit. It's still not a great movie. Makes me wonder if Disney interfered and annoyed Tim Burton. I know that Tim Burton is done with Disney at this point. Some of the CGI doesn't hold up very well. I think he should have somehow merged the live action with his patented stop-motion animation, instead. Probably would have been a hell of an undertaking, but probably a much better result.

RIDE ALONG 2

Twice as good as Ride Along.

Cool, it can finally drink legally!

It's cool to post drunk in this thread now, ladies and gents.

Pawn Shop Chronicles (2013)

"An anthology of stories involving meth addicted white supremacists, a man looking for his kidnapped wife and an Elvis impersonator."

Director - Wayne Kramer

Starring - Paul Walker, Norman Reedus, Elijah Wood, Thomas Jane, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, Vincent D'Onofrio, Lukas Haas and more

Despite the all star cast, I somehow missed this back in 2013.

It's a strange film and it does it well most of the time. Some scenes are laugh worthy, others not so much. Do recommend on Paul Walker's Neo-Nazi face-scratching meth-head performance alone.

Fifth element 1997

Cant believe this movie is that old, still good.
