Will Episode III surpass any of the OT movies? [Merged]

you will feel like a fool for thinking that it won't come close. The OT aren't gods you know.

I was like 4 when Return of the Jedi came out.....so you better believe I loved me some Ewoks.

Its actually my favorite of the originals, even though I fully admit Empire is a *better* movie. So I think Revenge of the Sith could be just as good if not better than ROTJ, and possibly better than ANH.

I was like 9 when the phantom Menace came out.

Your age then explains a few things...and yes I do think the old trilogy films are gods...

😂

Says a lot. This topic has been discussed ad nasuem as well (like 90% of these threads).

It is all a matter of opinion, and opinions are based largely on experience. If you are over 30 years old and grew up with the OT, chances are those are the films you like the most.

As far as the actual ACTING is concerned, I feel most of the scenes in the PT come across as forced (particularly Padame and Anakin). To be honest with all of you, I really don't think the acting is that great in either one of them. Sure, there are good actors in both OT and PT, but as I said earlier it is opinions here only. I mostly like SW for the story.

In my own opinion, I believe it might, but Empire Strikes Back is really good in myooinon, a sthe OT as a whole. The new movies are great, but acting needs a little work. From what I've seen though, this will definetely be one to remember.

That's the problem with the new ones...some of the acting and dialouge is so corny...and some of the special effects....yeesh. I just believe people 15 and down seem to like the new ones better.

The old ones had classic dialouge and I thought the acting was top notch for the type of movies they were...and the special effects were not only great for the time, but they are I believe still great now. CGI is overused in my opinion.

Destroy the OT ROTS will.

in the words of OT Luke...NEVER!!!!!

To the words of darth_achilles, you must listen.

When come out ROTS will, say to you we will "Warned you we tried, listen you did not, Now embarrased out of your mind you will be"

I've read a few snippets of the dialogue and screenplay from ROTS.

It looks to be easily the best of the PT, but nowhere near the OT.

ESB>ANH>ROTJ>>>>ROTS>>>>>>AOTC>TPM

Amen....Overall I agree...if ANYTHING, I think it could be better than ROTJ, but never the first two. And again Macgeek, seriously, there are people like you who love the new ones over the old ones, but that doesnt mean there are those of us who say we love the old ones better and will repent after we see Episode 3. No, for we are the old fans and nothing can compare to the OT.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I agree, this is getting old. Truce macgeek? After all opinions are opinions...

Im with you hunchy.

Could be slightly better than Return Of The Jedi, yes. It would have to impress me a lot to do that though, but a little bit of me says it could pull it off.

After reading those little bits of the screenplay, ROTS has a snowball in hells chance of beating ESB or ANH.

this is how I think my... continuum... will look:

ESB>>ANH>>>ROTJ>>ROTS>>>>>>TPM>AOTC

I believe (I haven't seen the movie yet obv) parts of ROTS will surpass the OT. I'm sure it will have the best duel (Anakin v Obi-Wan), the best showdown (Sidious v Yoda) and possibly some of the best scenes (Anikin falling/Vader).

I agree with Dodo and Superfly. Most of the others are missing the point, at least in my opinion. Its not about "cool fights" or lightsaber duels, which I"m sure will be entertaining, its about the classicness and greatness of it...About every line and scene in the OT is pretty much classic, especially Vader's stuff. It just saddens me there are those who love the new ones over the old ones...and dont get me wrong, I am very much anticipating the Obi-wan/Anakin duel, etc...
