As with all religions, Islam has people with extremist views. Those are the people who resort to terrorist acts and murdering the "infidel". It's no different from the Christians during the crusades. Islam has unfortunately become a political tool used by the west to propagate demonizing propaganda. Most Westerners are ignorant of Islam. Blame your governments, not Al Qaeda.

Quite true.I completely agree!
No, I think we'll continue to blame Al Qaeda. They are the ones who want to kill us. My question remains why 2/3 of "muslims" support terrorism. There are a few good muslims who outright condemn terrorism (including terrorism against israel by hamas and their like). But there is a large group who, while they may not be cheering them on, do tend to look the other way. Yes there are extremists in any religion (Though I've never met a Taoist extremist), but it's the proportionality of it I'm worried about.
I accept that most muslims want to be good, they may feel justified in their tacit support of terror groups, but in the end, they are WRONG. It's up to the peaceful muslims to take their religion back. Until then these "misunderstandings" will most likely continue.

I think you should probably say Arabs. And I do not think the ratio is so high.
I know you are LDS, and so I'll quote something for you:
Religions of the World - A Latter Day Saint View pg.238Latter-day Saint philosophy, then, holds that God - not Satan - inspired Muhammad and revealed to him a significant degree of eternal truth that Latter-day Saints should seek to understand and benefit from.
This text is sold through Church distribution.
I don't know these statistics. Perhaps you know where you got them from?
Islamic terrorism is a recent development that started with a major conservative Islmic movement about 30 years ago. Its a product of the US and Europe ignoring the plight of a major area of the world and doing anything just to siphon off its oil while its people rot.

I was never saying that the religion was bad. What I was saying is that it's scary how many fanatics happen to be of the islamic variety.
As far as where I got the stats, I remember hearing about them a long time ago, but after some quick and dirty research I found this:
http://www.answers.com/topic/islamic-extremist-terrorism
"A 2004 Pew survey revealed that Osama bin Laden is viewed favorably by large percentages in Pakistan (65%), Jordan (55%) and Morocco (45%). In Turkey as many as 31% say that suicide attacks against Americans and other Westerners in Iraq are justifiable."
Again, I know that these people are practicing a perverted form of islam, not what "one who submits" would really approve of. Thing is, these numbers are just plain scary.

Your logic is off. THe poll never said "who supports terrorism?!?" It asked "Do you like people who hate the peole you do too?!?" The US assassinates thier leaders, helps corrupt government powers grow rich to keep the oil flowing, and doesnt give a sh*t about thier human rights. Please, I wonder why they hate us 🙄 Not to mention our blind support of Isreal's terrorist policies.

Beg your pardon, I guess instead of support I should have said "view favorably".
Give me a break, even if you dislike the govt of some country, it is no excuse to go killing the citizens of that country. I don't remember americans going and killing random russians during the cold war, do you? I think it's your logic that's off.
Add to that the fact that we give more aid to these people than any other country and sorry, I just don't understand their hatred.
grow up.
How would you like another country invaded your democratic government and helped to overthrow it and install a monarchical dictator? Like Operation Ajax?
How yould you like it if a US warship shot down one of your commercial airliners? Like Iran Air Flight 655? btw - 290 civilian casualties from 6 nations.
How yould you like it if the US illegally flew UAVs over your homeland?
How yould you like it if the US denied official government representatives visasa to attend a offiail UN conference?
How about the US giving support the Iraq's chemical weapon program (which were used to gas Iraniean civilians) during the Iran Iraq war?
Apperently you don't remember much about american history in this region. Maybe you should read up on it?
And btw, the US should be the largest giver of aid to these nations, were the richest country in the world. We need to learn to leave their governments alone and let the people rule.
Start thinking.

I think we had a similar occurrence. Mormons were persecuted. We even had an extermination order put in effect in Missouri, which was not repealed until 1976. We were pushed back and forth until we left the east and moved to Utah. Once we got here, many Mormons were against joining the United States, they were afraid that what occurred while they were in the east would occur again if we joined the Union. I am sure that many would have viewed favorably an individual that committed terrorist style attacks against those they believed were the cause of the actions that took place. I am not stating that this would have been any higher than the number of Muslims, and I am not stating that this would be the right view, but it is probable that had someone done this many Mormons would have cheered.

I wouldn't like any of that. But that wouldn't give me the right to kill innocent people either.
Is it justifiable to kill someones kids because they pissed you off? That's the message I'm getting from you. I'm saying that no matter what you've been through there is no justification for murder.
As far as the early LDS experience goes, as I recall right after Joseph Smith was killed there were people ready to go to war. The people of Carthage were terrified of it. But the leaders counseled against it and the saints listened. Perhaps that's the real problem with islam, no real leadership.

Ok, I'd agree if the "fanatics" were a minority in Islam, but they aren't.No, I'm not an expert on the Qur'an so you might very well be right, but what I am judging right now is people like maham, the majority of mulsims today.
Again you use the word disrespectful, englighten me, why the hell should I consider respecting a small minded, homophobic, xenophobic, bigot such as yourself?
Fanatics are the majority? haha you must be shitting me.
