i forgot to say, allaince, if u do get urself a copy of the qura'an, be careful. a lot of the stuff wen u read the english can be misinterperated very easily. u really need some muslim, preferibaly one who understands arabic, to explain each verse to u, u can find someone of the sort at a mosque. thats wat i did. a book to get is word by word quran. it is important that u dont read it yourself, because some verses are hard to understand, and if you dont know wat its really talking about, u might htink its about hate.

But how can he objectivelly investigate religion if he has followers telling him about it.
Allience, I suggest you read the Qur'an yourself, and then ask people at the Mosque for things you don't understand.
I also suggest independent books from historians and archeologists.
Such is what I do for every religion, up and including Buddhism. It will help you make up your own mind regarding a religion.
If the verses truly do not hold any hate, Alliance will be able to pick it up without the help of the Imam. He seems intelligent enough.
i guess so, but u should still ask explanation for any religeon, thats wat i did for like the bible and some taurah. cause also a lot of words are mistranslated, which is true with every religeon. for example, in the quran , i dont know exact part, but it says wen the baby is a certain time in the womb, it is "some arabic word i forget". this word has 3 meanings, 1. looking like a leach 2.clinging 3. i think the third is clot of blood but im not sure (im srry, but i forget how old the baby is too). this would be translated as one, but in reality, all three are true, its looking like a leach, it clings to the mothers womb, and is a clot of blood(im not sure about clot of blood, srry)

Apparently you misunderstand me, I don't hate Islam at all. In fact, I have a much better appreciation for it than most people I know. Islam saved intellectualism during some very dark Christian times.
Now, I can read what I want. If I'm going to read something, I like to figure out what it means, not to be told by someone what it means. (thanks lil for covering this before I did.)I'd LOVE to learn Arabic, but unfortunately I suck at languages and I'm currently wrestling with Mandalorian.

I actually used to be muslim but now I have even less love for Islam than I did before I became muslim.
I dont think all muslims are bad but I think most religous people unfortunately tend to be bullies and think that they are right and evrybody else is wrong, but I think this tends to be more so with muslims.

So you are talking about hystoric events. Well, there are a lot of bad moments in all religions but Mohammad never tought violance, neither Qur'an speaks about violance, unless you are forced to fight back. But I'll try to answer what I can.
