paid period days!

Started by BackFire6 pages

So you think it's okay that women get 24 more PAID days off then men, just because some of them can't handle their period? That's silly.

If, as Ush pointed out, she can produce a doctors note saying that it is impossible for her to work under her current hormonal condition, that's a completely different story, but to give ALL women 24 more paid days off is just ridiculous. Plus, there will be plenty of women who take advantage of this, and simply lie about their period to get out of work.

Of course, the women who agree to this procedure are by default also admitting that women are NOT equal to men and, as such, need special treatment, in turn, perhaps they shouldn't get paid as much, if they can't do the same caliber job as a man who doesn't "need" 24 extra days off. This whole thing in the end is only going to hurt womens liberation and crap, basically by admitting that women are NOT equal to men in these circumstances.

Also, as mentioned above, most of the women admit that ibuprofen takes away almost all of their pains. So, I retort that the women who can't produce a doctors note saying that they absolutely must have the days off of work just take that drug and get to work, or just don't complain when the company cuts your paycheck in half for doing less work then those who work the full allotted amount of time they should.

But why shoukd someone hire females then excêpt they are a lot better than any other?

Honestly, if this happens and women get 24 more days off, they probably shouldn't get hired. And you'll also probably see a lot less women getting jobs because of this.

Why would any company in the right mind hire a woman if she can take 24 extra days off then a man, basicaly the company would lose money. I really can't see this happening.

thats what I was trying to say with my question you know

Tough shit, they shouldn't ask for special treatment.

that was sorta my point... 😮 😕 😮

BF> “Can’t handle their period?”
(Faints) For someone usually displaying more than two marshmallows to move around you’re obviously intend on misunderstanding this.
SOME women have pains SO severe that no normal painkillers will help them. That’s just the way it is… Add to that the fact that women (in general) have higher pain-thresholds than men and you’ll realise that these women would rather be at work.
(Thank you, I tried those period-pains on in my teens. And trust me, you wouldn’t want those on your worst enemy).
So, no… it’s NOT silly that those women who DO have serious pains get those days off. What do you want?
“Ah, no Miss Jones, you were home with period-pains, so it’s too bad you broke you leg, but you better be at work, or else…”
So, as I said… THOSE women who DO have those pains should be home in bed…
I never said ALL women should have days off, THAT would be silly.
The women who have these pains have these pains. That has **** to do with equality, that’s just the way it is.
Or do you want to add child-birth to “sick-days” using the same “not-equal” logic?
That is absurd. To even go on and claim that because A woman has severe period-pains she can’t do the same calibre-job as a man is just nuts.

I still need to swallow a handful of painkillers on the first two days of my period, but as I grew older the killer-pains went away. That just doesn’t happen for all women…

why should period pains be any different from any other pain, except the fact it's a routinte for women? 😕 If you don't feel well enough to come in, call a sickie 😛 not rocket science, is it 😱 period pain occurs naturally, as do cold's, flu's, broken arms....

As I said, if certain women who honestly do get their period so bad that they can't work and can produce a doctors note saying that it is impossible for them to work under their conditions, then I'm fine with that.

However, I have a problem with this plan being available to EVERY woman (which from what I've heard, it would be) based on nothing but her word. This would lead to women lying about their period and such.

In short, this plan should be made available to a very very few number of women, not every woman at the office.

omega whoa whoa please...

i'm a guy ok... but i know from personal experience that every woman is different, its fact of life...

childbirth is of course a natural thing and no woman who's just given birth should have to go to work...

periods on the other hand, they need to be dealt with properly, if a woman is keeled over constantly and can't work, then fine... but just handing this out so that any woman (even those whose pain is manageable) can abuse it is wrong imo...

well even then, the employer has to look for the best people for the job considereing everything if a woman misses 24 days a year that is just not good for the employer in anyway so why should he hire them?

True, and you won't see many people hiring these women. Why would some employer knowingly hire a person who requires 24 extra paid days off.

Cause feminist will say they weren't treated equal? 😕

to hell with that, I'm gonna cut my face while shaving every a couple of times a month and call in sick 😊 balance out the universe

They are being treated equally though. If a man came to try to work for them saying "I need 24 extra paid days off because I get chronic stomach cramps that last all day" then that many wouldn't be hired either. It has nothing to do with their gender, merely their efficiency to work at the same caliber and the same number of days as everyone else is expected to work.

I know, I am just sayingt that this most probably would happen, good dammit go with my debating tactics, we are on the same side.

It this necessary? 😕 What's the difference between feeling pain at work or home?

that is not a good argument to put up....if i went to work with period pains i simply would not be able to work let alone stand up 😬

FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE but how do the doctors know if it's genuine pain, or they're not just exagerating it for days off? 😕

tests maybe? 😕 im not too sure...

ok guys i think i need to re-post a sentence of my first post:

most of you are saying how if they have a note it can be accepted, but if not then screw it....i DID say they had to have a note from their doctor 😬
