Tell you what, you get a little depth to your argument, you come back and we can argue it some more. But I've just had a look back, and you have been fixed on the same point for a while now. the thing that the whole idea of Eragon is lifted form another book. Well what do you want it to do? Start a completely new genre? be all on it's own because nothing else is as fantastic as it is? IT IS FANTASY!!! It is in it's own little world. And I don't know about anyone else, but I see NOTHING of Star Wars in it. not a lightsaber or big (or little) furry monkey thing in sight.

I have no clue where to go to even see the trailer!

Stop coming here just to repeat over and over that you hate Eragon, and for the same reason. Get a different reason don't stick to the same on or all that will happen is we'll get bored of you insulting a book we love and we'll ignore you- and you'll just be wasting your time.

No. It's been essentially juxtaposed from several books / films; with the most damning examples that come to mind being Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

WTF? This is nonsensical. It's aspects of the Star Wars plot that he has plaugurised; not the setting.

its hard to come up with new ideas because so much has been used already, im sure he didnt mean to plaugurise star wars, it just happened that the story he wrote was similar to it. deffinately makes it less interesting to read if youve read it before...

course i dont know if i should butt in to this conversation.... just ignore me if you want to 🙂

How about giving us some examples Swirly Girl? How did he plaugurised any of those things? You mentioned it's the plot- what exactly in the plot? You can't just say Paolini plaugurised those plots and have nothing to back up your statement.

I'm sure you'll love it! It's a bit complicated sometimes -for me at least- but I can't help liking it.

The thing is when you come across a book like eragon which is very similar in ways to star wars you have to make a choice on books cos its very hard to read them all if you don't have the time

I'd rather read Timothy Zahn's post return of the jedi trilogy because its just an amazing and sticks with a universe i love...

this is not to say eragon is not a bad book its excellent but people will always accuse it of being a copy cat of some of the more recognised sci-fi classics because its just a bit too close.. but in fairness its extremely hard to be original in sci-fi these days

Hey, I have some theories. Who else thinks that Bromwas in love with Selena? And Brom introduced Selena to Morzan when he was still infatuated with him, and the rest is history. Because Angela says on p. 435 of Eragon, "He [Brom] loved a woman, but it was his affection that was her undoing." Could it be that Brom and Selena were a couple,and because he loved her so much, he introduced her to his 'best friend', as you do. then Selena and Morzan, blah, blah.
Also, in Empire, I reckon Eragon finds out his true name,and the name of the ancient language. Also, in Eldest, Islanzadi mentions a dragon with a name that cannot be mentioned "in this or any language". Was she talking about the first Eragon's dragon? I don't have mycopy with me, so I can't check.

Brom in love with Selena? Hmm...never thought of that. It's an idea. Maybe when Selena heard Angela reveal her future she didn't want Brom to be harmed so broke contact with him or something? Or was she already with Morzan at that time...hmm, dunno.

I have a theory of Eragon's love life though, but it's a bit far-fetched. What if it's Nasuada? I mean, it's obviously going to work out with Arya....though I want it to. Think about it- he gave Nasuada his fealty and if my memory is correct Nasuada chose him as her successor before that last battle in Eldest.

And an excerpt here-
'Nasuada turned her almosd shaped face towards him. "Eragon?" she whispered.

He(Eragon) was unprepared for how glad he was to see her(Nasuada). With a broad grin, he twisted his hand over his sternum in the elves gesture of fealty and bowed.
"Eragon!" This time Nasuada sounded delighted and relieved.

And another-
Nasuada stoped in the middle of her sentense when she spotted the new arrivals. Running toward them she threw her arms around Eragon and cried, "Where were you? We thought you were dead, or worse."

Eragon and Nasuada? I never thought about that. It might happen, actually. But then, when Angela read his fortune, she said "you will fall in love with ONE of noble birth", not two of noble birth, so if they did fall in love, then he would have to not really be in love with Arya.
Arya's actually a really beautiful name, does anyone else think so?
Eragon's a really cool name as well.

I always loved the name Arya. It's...well it's sort of gives you the feeling the person is serene, and wise...which is what Arya really is like.

But remember Arya's two companions that were mentioned at the very beginning of book one? How she told Eragon about one of them, but wouldn't go into detail about the other one? (I'm too lazy to go look up his name) It was an elf as well and there was obviously something between him and Arya. I think Paolini's made it obvious he isn't going to bring Arya and Eragon together, but will he really leave al the books romance free? Excepting the Arya/Eragon thing when Arya disagreed, so that doesn't count.

His name was Faolin, and the other one was called...I can't remember. Doesn't it begin with G?

I have no idea...and how are we sure he was in love with Arya? Maybe he was just strongly attracted to her, I mean think about it. Mostly it was her steath, soft features, swiftness and beauty that Paolini wrote he like about her. Sure he liked her personality as well but beauty was described the most...I think.
