Face it. THe whole point of superheroes is that they have super powers. They should have either no powers at all or have really really powerful abilities. You cant do things like that in half-measures.

The drama comes when your family, friends and loved ones can be killed, kidnapped or worst. He maybe bullet proof but his wife and parents aren't.

Doomsday has only ever lost a fight to Superman once, and that was because he was confused by his new found intelligence. Superman also lost badly to Gog, who Doomsday went on to stalemate to the point that Gog gave up fighting.
Cyborg Superman stalemates Supes everytime they fight, he was exactly the same strength and powers as supes with the added bonus that he can control technology with his mind.
For the record, I'd like to see a comic where Doomsday smashes Martha Kents head.

Doomsday's new weakness is now he knows FEAR of death, and he is AFRAID of Superman.
New DD is a walking vagina. And Superman fans love to say "oh look how Superman beat DD!!" like it's a big accomplishment, it isn't, not anymore.
Same with Darkseid, he's a pussy now, so Superman beating him isn't anything to brag about.
See? Superman's enemies have all been depowered. Why? Because Superman fans can't handle Superman losing.
But that was only in one story, immediately after DD had become sentient. Superman beat him only because at the moment, Doomsday was still wrestling with his new emotions. In the most recent Doomsday story, DD was far from scared of Superman, and in fact started fighting with Gog just so he could have Superman to himself. Gog is one of those underpowered enemies who constantly kicks Supermans ass, btw.
It doesn't matter though, because at the end of the most recent story Doomsday got turned back into a mindless monster.

Probably the same reason why Orion has steadily whooped Superman, or at least stalemated him on every single encounter they've ever had but all of a sudden when Superman goes "crazy", Orion can't even harm him.
I'm wondering if much of the resentment toward Superman is not so much how he is as a character, but how he is as a real-life icon. No Other Hero is as widely recognized and liked as Supes. He Is the modern incarnation of "The Hero," everything that is Good and Noble and Strong in the Common Man (or Woman), put in visual form. Even in comic-book land, other superheroes--from both Marvel and DC--openly acknowledge their admiration and respect for him (can't say that about Thor, for example). A world full of Supermen would be a much nicer place than one full of Batmen or Wolverines (though I understand their cathartic appeal). Dislike for Superman may simply stem from others' favorite heroes not having his stature.
On the other hand...that damn costume does leave a lot to be desired. If only Seigel and Schuster had consulted a fashion expert, or a psychic.
