REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Scott Peterson (news - web sites) will be sent to California's death row after a judge upheld a jury's recommendation that he be sentenced to death for the slayings of his wife and her fetus.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) -- Scott Peterson was sentenced to death Wednesday for murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, more than two years ago.
Judge Alfred A. Delucchi denied a defense request for a new trial before upholding the jury's recommendation that he be sentenced to death, calling the slayings of Laci and her fetus "cruel, uncaring, heartless and callous."
"The court is satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant, Scott Lee Peterson, is guilty of first-degree murder" and second degree, Delucchi said.
Peterson, shackled at the waist and wearing a dark suit, was escorted into court under heavy security. He will be sent to death row at San Quentin State Prison outside San Francisco, the infamous lockup that overlooks the same bay where Laci Peterson's body was discarded.
Killing the woman you married, gutting her, removing the child, and then sinking them to the bottom of a bay isn't right.
Death Penalty is justice...
Not in it's finest form, but murder isn't humanity in it's highest form. Give him a life sentence....then ask yourself, is 25 years of his life worth the entire life of an unborn child and the remaining life of an innocent woman. You can't compare years of prison to a person's life. It's apples and oranges.
Yes, it will. It saves the taxpayers money and there will one less killer in the world. Besides life in prison isn't really life, it's more more 25 yrs. And some prisoners have more luxury and freedom than some people living out of prison. They get free cable, free clothes, free meals, and all they have to do is sit on their butt.
He will never be executed (and it would be lethal injection if it came to pass). The appelate system takes years to manuever even in places like Texas, In California it wil just not happen IMO. They say fetus as a legal term so as not to bias potentail jurors, bring lawsuits on themselves, et all.... But as it is, he will spend the rest of his days in 6 x9 ft cell, which gives him just what he wanted... no wife & no kid. The death penalty itself is an issue that will never be worked out in the US, both sides have good and bad arguments and neither one is right or wrong IMO....
