No more shameful and barbaric than what Peterson did to his wife and child Milla.
Well then that makes the state no better than him - personally I think people should serve justice in a society not revenge - and i people want revenge, they can go form a tribe and use Hummurabi's law to live by.

Hmm I dont know though.. is killing someone for killing another a justification?.. I think a better punishment is to make him stay in prison til he dies. killing him right away ends his torment.. all in all I think the final call should be for Laci's family to decide (whether he fries or whether he has life in prison)

Flip the question.

Is putting a man in jail for a X number of years justification for killing 2 people?

There is no justification for murder, so why look for justification on the other side of the coin?

I'm fairly sure they have supported the notion of the death penalty throughout the trial, but I'm not absolutely sure.

In which case, if Laci's family is in charge of the decision.....does that justify anything?

there isnt a justification for killing someone.. but what gives 'us' the right to decide what happens to him? also, I figure if Laci's family is in charge. . it would give them some kind of deeper insight , having the power to decide and all.. sortof "Would you murder them the same way they murdered your relative? or would you forgive and let their fate be their sentence?"

an eye for an eye 😐

...makes the whole world blind.

I believe laws laid down by the society that individual chooses to live in are what gives "us" the right to decide what happens to him.

Had he lived in a state where they did not practice the death penalty....then he wouldn't be sentenced in that way. He was found guilty of commiting the crimes he was charged with by a jury of his peers.

He is also a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the state of California. By choosing this country and state to live in, he is subject to the laws and punishments that go with crimes against the society he lives in...

Punishment fits the crime....unless you can explain how it doesn't.

he wont be killed for at least 20 years anyway. and its going to cost thousands of tax payers dollars to keep him in jail then execute him when they can get a 5 dollar pack of bullets and end it right then and there

Killing his pregnant wife and then try to drown the body....thats just so friggin wrong! We don't need shit like this slimeball in the world.

OMG I have been reading Peterson wrong for the past hour or so 😮

Good, getting what he deserves.

generally, I'm against death penalty...
but SOME things... some cases, .. it's so apalling that I can't think of a better sentance, and for this guy well, I hope he burns in hell ✅

it's also hypocritic and ridiculous for people to go on a rampage as to how bad death penalty is, when there are problems like children in Africa starving that no one gives a damn for
I mean, c'mon, I personally couldn't care less if a serial killer died and how humanistic that is, when we could devote time and money on more important goals that should be our priority 😬

as for Peterson, first time I heard the story but I say he deserves it.

🙄

whoever the hell's law it is... revenge, getting even, its instinctual. the death penalty can be barbaric and though there isnt really hard proof that it can deter future violent criminals, there is a necessity for it being in place

If there is no justification for murder how can you justify the death penalty, the sooner that is abolished the better.

Evy, thats really interesting for you to say, because time and money - do you know that it costs a state more money to execute someone than it is to keep them in prison for life?

I'll be back with the official link to this - but its not a well known fact - yet it is very true.

Some 411 on your statement would be nice, Lil Bitchiness. 'Cause I don't believe it!

No, it's true. It does cost more to execute someone then to put them in jail for the rest of their life.

no ive heard the same thing as well... in my economics class, it does cost more to kill them than to have them as lifers in prison...

Its very true, i forget the actual figures but when you add up the cost of extra protection, long appeals, incarceration time, etc... it costs the state like 4 - times the amount it does to say life in prison & be done with it. I would go look for a study but even with facts & figures peopple believe what they choose to. The death penalty is an emotional issue, not a rational one.

death penalty is wrong.
let him live out a loooong life in a box. why should we as a society
murder...using murder as justification? the point i'm making is we're
supposed to be better than these scumbags, not on their level.
