It's not about guts, it's about realisation of changing times. People are living in the dark ages, and these people are empowered? That's just ridiculous.

My poor granny is seriously paranoid that a black Pope will be the last Pope and then the whole world will end. Seriously.

Well it can't be worse now, i mean, the next pope will want to be as loved and as respected as John Paul II, so I doubt they'll choose a stubborn catholic conservative.

Luckily, I got to see him a few years ago before he passed away.

they don't necessarily choose old people, but the only way they can be released from duty is by death i think.. so they all become old eventually 🙄

nope as far as i know, they can't resign.. they make a lifetime commitment
