This is getting huge headlines unlike i have seen since 9/11 or Iraq war. Biggest story since iraq war it looks like and most high profile death since princess Diani.
I think the world really is sad not because he was the pope, but he is the last of the great hero's of the 20th century. The world has very few good hero's to look out to and if one of them die it hits many. Well move on sure, but give the world atleast a 2 weeks atleast. Its good if people are sadden by the death of the pope, it shows the world cares. yes there are bigger problems in the world. However the leader of a billion people, and a man respected by another billion more died. That is big news. 😠
I would post what I've posted in every other topic like this....But I fear that Syren will slit my throat....
Either that or it'll turn all of you into an angry mob....
So I'll say this in its stead.
I'm not really a Christian, at least not one of any detirmined denomination, but I believe that Pope John Paul II was a great man who did his best to make the world a better place, and I respect that.
No offence, but the man did nothing for me.
He had a very long and favoured life, with MANY people's love and respect. It's not like some man in his 20s was assassinated. He died naturally at the end of a long and important (to many) life.
So I don't see what the huge deal is. I respect that he done alot for others, but he hasn't got my respect because he's not done anything that I think deserves it. I mean no disrespect in saying that, it's just the truth.

he did nothing for me, i still respect him why?, because he did something for others and thats what matters. He apologized for the churches mistakes and i say few can do that, and i respect him most for that. Something our politicians have a hard time doing. . All the world needs is a great leader to look to and the last of leaders of the 20th century are leaving.
It's a matter of respecting the feelings of the people that it does matter to A.C. Kind of like if a family member of yours passed away I'm sure you wouldn't want people to say bad things about them. To many Catholic's the Pope was a member of their family so to speak. He was very conservative and although I'm Catholic I didnt agree with him on some things, but that doesnt mean I dont think he was an exceptional person. But as someone said in a matter of days they will elect a new pope and the Catholic community will move one. Oh and one more thing, a Pope doesn't have to die in office. Some have stepped down upon becoming terminally ill and they were very sick I think.
Well go you.
He did stuff for others. So I'll let him be respected by those he did stuff for, as opposed to me who he did nothing for. Not saying he should have, just saying he didn't.
He led the religious, and some of those who chose to respect him either way. There are loads of people he never led and as a result, that's where I stand.
He's died and I can appreciate that those who he "did" something for are sad, I'm not coz I'm not one of them. Apologising for the church's mistakes aren't anything to me because I'm nothing to do with the church anyway.
