Revenge of the Sith- Oscars? (Merged)

Hey, I'm hoping for the whole enchilada. I want 12 oscars for ROTS to beat Titanic and that hobbit movie

I want Best Picture for Revenge of the Sith. Yep, we lost out to Woody Allen's Annie Hall in '78. Not this time. George is due. What's its competition this year? Nothing. It's been an underwhelming spring & summer for movies, with only ROTS being an huge blockbuster. And what's coming this fall & winter? A THIRD visualization of King Kong? Talk about doing it to death. This is our year!

I want Lucas to win Best Director. Yep, I know it's heresy, but they've got to give him it due to the whole lifetime achievement bit. Don't academy members know how influential the SW movies have been?

I want a Best Supporting Actor for Ian McDiarmid. He should absolutely be nominated and he better win. His performance was masterful. It's about time a Star Wars actor won an award. If there is one chance in 6 Star Wars movies for an actor to win, this has got to be it.

I want McGregor & Christenson to be nominated for Best Actor, and I'd like it if Ewan won. I don't know that Christensen's could beat Ewan, besides if they were both nominated, the SW vote would split and some other actor would win. Actually I thought Christensen was better in AOTC (the whole "I killed them all" scene was tight.)

I want it to win the rest of those minor awards too. Special visual effects, editing, original score, costumes, art direction, sound, sound editing, make-up, cinematography, set design. Heck, I even want Lucas to win for Original screenplay. Hey, you can type this stuff, AND say it!

as for best picture... batman begins was of higher quality...

lucas is not nor ever was a great director...

supporting? maybe... though im not sure...

mcgregor and hayden dont even come close...

as for the minors... some im sure would be winnable...

The only ones it has a chance of winning are the technical ones... McDiarmid is a long shot.

Actually Dev...I'm not even positive on those technical ones...

Sure it's very high quality...but it's still the same old thing...I think THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE will be hard to beat Aslan is really impressive...

I'm looking for innovations and advances...but certainly haven't seen it.

Also...WAR OF THE WORLDS was better visually...and certainly more believable.

We've gotten a lot of good movies. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, War of the Worlds, Batman Begins etc.

I think War of the Worlds is great competition...

Batman Begins won't be up for awards, I don't think...nothing tremendously new about that film.

Narnia and King Kong will be big...not sure what else is coming out.

I agree tlb... WOTW is my pick.

How 'bout Sin City?

SIN CITY needs to win for cinematography...although you're right...a lot of digital color correction and such went into that film. Artistically speaking...that was the most beautiful picture to watch in a while...

Mr Gayden Chrystalmeth, will not have a single pitiful chance of winning an oscar but I'm sure him and Natalie will win a razzie next year for their peformance.

SW wont win an oscar, it´s a not an oscary sort of movie. The oscars are a political thing, they give it to who´s "in". Most movies which won oscars were boring and crap in my opinion.

I don't think Oscars arethat political. Most of the time...those films that win are very deserving.

Normaly, the films that are Big Oscar Winners are the ones released at the end of the year (except gladiator and braveheart)

Anyway, the Academy ignores films that are disappointing (Like alexander, or Matrix 2,3... both could have got technical oscars but they didnt) and the Prequel Trilogy was very disappointing.
With the technical oscars sometimes it has nothing to do with who makes better things, but who uses them in a better movie.

And from the movies you all said, probably War of the worlds will get 2 or 3 low oscars... Sin City, Batman etc... maybe they get 1 or 2 nominations and just maybe 1 oscar...

Hitchhikers stunk. WOTW and BB were both uneven critics found.

And gee, the NYTimes said "Sith" was "Better than 'Star Wars.'" 'Sith' has earned more than $150 million more than the 2nd-place movie this year! So yeah, it's earned the right to be considered for Best Picture.

I hope the academy will turn it into a Lucas-fest and give him the honors he deserves.

It could win for best cg film ebert and roepert said that sense most of it is in cg that it might nomination there.
