Yup.... a vibrational detection device is a way to detect the sound indirectly, so it will exist. And even indirect ways count. The sound does not exist only if is not possible to deduce its existence in any way, it must be totally isolated. Thats not only my point of view, but quantum mechanics tells that too. Actually is very difficult to isolate a sound entirely, and even if it happens in a the totally desolated place it will exist. If it happens in a place like another galaxy, then I think we can tell that it does not exist.
Think in stars that we can still see even when they are long dead but its light is reaching us now. In this example, we cannot tell that the stars died, and we only don´t know it yet. Its not defined if its died or not. It will only become a fact when its possible to prove in someway that they died, be it by direct, or indirect detection.
There is a view in physics where its believed that if we where not here to perceive the universe, it would not exist, as for something to exist its needed awareness of its existence. And thats all science.. ufff....
using the rational presented by many in this forum wouldn't it be safe to say that things exist outside of our perception and only because we have 5 senses can we detect these said things. well what if there are an entire race of aliens who walk around undetectable experimenting on us, giving us the ability to think, rationalize, have morality, etc. does it mean that there an infinite amount of things in front of me now that I can't detect because of my limitations in the amount of senses I have?
*btw this is the dumbest thing I've ever written. I was just reading through your posts and thought I'd try and add my 2 cents. I'm actually waiting in anticipation for someone to say that I'm the stupidest person ever and no I'm not asking these questions for myself but as a means to be thought provoking and insightful. silly me trying to be better than everyone else!

I don´t understood your point of view, but I don´t think we should say that an argument is dumb or not, it just not racional to do that, its more an emotional impulse that leads us to do that.

Subatomic particles, making up everything you see, touch, smell, hear(the vibrations and the emitter's both) and taste.
Isn't it amazing how infentesimally small we are, and how infinetly huge we are?
O..k i suppose this is a forum of mincing words
if a tree should fall in the woods and nobody is around to hear it does it make a sound
...
well how bout this for an answer
It does, just coz
let me explain
It just does cos it does

we are all cabbages and nobody has legs we all speak through our noses and mouths dont exist
i think thats a fitting answer to a question of simalar stupidity lol
