The OTF does have some quality, for example some of the members who post here.......
Yet it does seem to be dropping with regard to the topics, I know it's supposed to be off topic, but some of the threads are about subjects where absolutely nothing can be said except 🤨
And even that smilie gets a little boring.......

Regardless of whether I like the OTF or not, I simply do not see the point of regulating it AND having a GDF.
The OTF should be screened for illegal/unacceptable content only. If the content is merely crap, then simply so be it! The OTF was created in the first place because more effort than was reasonable was having to be made to keep such threads out of the GDF. If we start making the same effort to keep them out the OTF, then we just get stuck in an endless cycle! We either make continual war on those threads, which adds a lot of workload for not THAT much gain, or we leave it all in here and concentrate on making sure the GDF stays of a higher quality.
As you know, I never liked the idea of the OTF being co-opted as a social area anyway. If people think it is dropping in 'quality'- well, quality was never really a guarantee of the OTF. Maybe it is time the GDF got more of the attention it deserves? It was never intended that the GDF only have serious debatey type threads, y'know. It just does not like random nonsense.
