Newborn
From the first moment she looked into,
Her newborn son’s green eyes,
Rocking him slowly back and forth,
Soothing away his plaintive cries,
She fell so deeply in love with him,
And at that moment she did forget,
The bad things life had thrown at her,
All the cruel fates she had met.
This child she held so tenderly,
Though not by her choice conceived,
After all that suffering, all that pain,
Never could she have believed,
That she would love this poor child,
His father he will never know,
