Who started your love of METAL?

Name 5 bands and their albums that inspired you to LOVE metal. Be HONEST!! Since I was 12 in 1992 and started then, it would have to be, in no particular order.................

Pantera-Vulgar Display of Power
Type O Negative-Bloody Kisses
Sepultura-Chaos A.D.
Slayer-Seasons in the Abyss
Fear Factory-Demanufacture

Metallica's Orion

Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Saxon. My mum listened to Black Sabbath since I was born, and my brothers listened to all kinds of metal, but mostly iron maiden and saxon.

It has been drilled into my head since I was born.

i've always liked rock music...just progressed as i got older, first albums i bought were Oasis and Blur...

Metallica - ...And Justice For All
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Poison - Look What that Cat Dragged In
Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Skid Row - Skid Row

Me its the song (sic) of SLIPKNOT!!!!!

Honestly... I think the first CD I bought was either Linkin Park or blink-182, and I just started listening to less and less crap as time went by 😛

My mom loves Black Sabbath so I sorta listened to that my whole life...

First metal CD I got was Metallica -- Master of Puppets. My boyfriend at the time (calling him my boyfriend is a tiny bit of a stretch considering we went out for a week and we were in middle school) got it for me for my 13th birthday 😂

It was one band at one moment, I was 12 and a kid at school brought in Iron Maidens "Live after Death" on vinyl. I was totally amazed by the sleeve artwork and band photos and I knew at that moment that everything I'd been listening to up to that point would have to go in the bin.

I really liked Metallica when I was 8 or 9, So I guess the Black Album

Slayer (Reign in Blood) and Metallica(Kill'em All)

Korn, and Life Is Peachy. My dad got a free copy because he was supposed to be reviewing it, but he listened to the first track and knew it would go straight over his head, so he gave it to me, his 11-year old son. Unconcious parenting or what.

And just for the record, the first album I ever bought was the cassete version of The Wall by Pink Floyd, which cost me all $3 of my weekly candy money. Pretty sweet for a 7-year old, even if the only song I ever listened to on it was Another Brick In The Wall 😎

Napalm Death - From Enslavement to obliteration
Obituary - End Complete
C.O.C. - Eye for an Eye
D.R.I. - Dealing With It
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power

When I was 10 or 11, I was over at a friends house and he played some of Ixnay on the Hombre by The Offspring and I was instantly hooked.

The Offspring is certainly NOT metal.

my mate got me into metal, i cant remember what was the first i got into. first cd i ever bought was Oasis - (Whats The Story) Morning Glory. always like alternative music

The first metal band I liked was Slayer.. but I got into them years after their popularity. Then I soon got into Anthrax and Pantera afterwards.. but I never liked metal before I got the Internet. That is, unless you count stuff like Zeppelin and Judas Priest.

Of course.

Df02 had Oasis and Blur as the bands he first got into which are certainly not metal and Deathblow had Pink Floyd as his first CD he ever bought so I didn't really think this thread was so much about Metal as much as what rock artists you first got into. My mistake.

The first metal band I got into was Metallica.

Well, the thread IS titled "Who started your love of METAL?"

Doesn't say that it has to be a metal band though, like Df and DR said, it's all about progression.
