My love of metal began when Evanescence became big shots. From them, I was introduced to many other metal bands, whom I would never have been interested in if Evanescence didn't exist. 🙂
I totally agree. I discovered Within Temptation through a fellow Evanescence fan and after that was introduced to the likes of Lacuna Coil and Nightwish. Never looked back since.
Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Papa Roach - Infest
Creed - Greatest Hits
Disturbed - Sickness (But I heard Prayer first which is off the Believe ablum)
Drowning Pool - Sinner (Heard Bodies and I was hooked!)
But like most people as time goes by my taste has differed and gotten heavier as mood has taken me off on tangents.

*nods* Even though Ev are not the same as they were, I'll always credit them for helping me discover a huge multitude of great bands. 🙂
I started listening to metal/rock since birth! My dad was always playing it.
In my preteens it was all about Dio, Iron Maiden and Helloween.... shame on me
Then 13-15, before heavy music was popular again and I had no access to new music it was still Iron Maiden and Helloween
And then it was popular so naturally started liking Papa Roach, Linkin Park... shame on me again... although Papa Roch pre-infest rocks!
Then I grew up and discovered awesome bands like August Burns Red and Misery Signals.
Old Thread I didn't notice before...
Anyways...as a young pimple face kid in the 80's I saw this video:
From then on I went on to listen to Megadeth and that was that....
