Yeah, so what you're saying is if they had a mountain of kryptonite they could win.... what you're forgetting is that you couldn't find that much kryptonite if you searched the cosmos! It's rarer then owl's teeth. You're lucky if you can get your hands on a fist-sized chunk.
As for "draping themselves in it..." sure, if they want to sterilize themselves and get cancer! Kryptonite is radioactive--Lex Luthor contracted terminal radiation poisoning from wearing a kryptonite RING. (Admittedly, it took years, but if you wore a damn suit of the stuff, you'd probably notice the effects a lot quicker.)
As for synthesizing it.... only Green Lantern's ring and Batman's tech have that capability. Lex doesn't.
Even if they say, set up Red Sun megawatt generators, this stuff takes time to take effect. Superman just needs the few moments it takes to bring his hands together, his foot down, or hell, just blow really hard, and it all goes flying away courtesy of an 11.0 Earthquake.
That is, of course, unless this fight takes place in an occupied urban zone... the reason Superman doesn't always just zip around and rip his enemies to shreds in the first place is because they're usually fighting in a populated city. The shockwaves of a supersonic flight, at low elevation levels, would tear a city apart.
But our X-Men would never stoop as to use a city of unsuspecting people hostage, eh?

X-Men needs plans, technology etc etc to take down Supes.
All Supes needs to do is bring his hands together....
And if he flies in and sees that they're all wearing green suits and have big redlight emitters etc... why can't he fly off at super-speed, grab a mountain and drop it on them?
Hulks not on their team so they'll just get crushed....
