Because they haven't posted any actual examples. They just post what they hear from other people, or general ideas about a character. It'd be like me saying SS will win cause he was one of Galactus's creations.

He's a plant. Plants are dependent on many, many things. Of course, if Swamp Thing is no longer dependent on oxygen, water, air, or sunshine...then that's another story.

In space in the Alan Moore run when Swampy went travelling with Metron he did not need to breathe as he was in touch with Alien types of Flora and Fauna also. Swampy is unusual, he might be able to beat the surfer, the surfer and Swampy though would not fight as they are pacifists.

Its more then just being a plant god He can be in more places then one controll whole planets if He links Himself to them and even create vegetation were it shouldnt be allowed to be created as in dead worlds with out vegetation no one can live and thus is why He must be BIG part of the way the DCU servives and lives. i admit that SS is powerful and more so as The Keeper but Swamp Thing would be able to defeat Him ive never seen the SS absorb anyones soul and if He did it would eventually escape or take over the SS's body and for all we know it might be impossible for SS to do it.
So he's a universal terraformer? And he draws his power from all plant life everywhere, and his body is made of folliage.
How does that make him a match for Silver Surfer, let alone God?(Presence).
He's made out of ferns and weeds and embodies billions upon billions of non sentient lifeforms; plants. A strong herbicide should do him in. Or acid.

He saved Shalla bal's from Mephisto, and as it was leaving he empowered it.
So, what is ST gonna do with ALLLLL that plantlife? SS could easily just drain away any energy it has in it, or simple blast it away.
He could probably make weeds grow out of SS ass or something how can SS defeat someone who can controll whole planets. How does the Source of all Life (Presence) have trouble with the embodiment of Plant Life (Swamp Thing) when he created plants and empowers all which he created? That makes no sense. I'll give you that there are a lot of different forms of plantlife, but it's non sentient life and draws power from photosynthesis (Sunlight). How can that rival God's Power?

All I know is that Swamp Thing created that thing Yggdrasil. That Tree is supposedly connected to all worlds in the universe. That was way back in 4,500,000,000 BC. Swamp Thing becomes the Parliament Of The Trees Champion. Basically he is an elemental plant god. Hmmmm. In order to hurt Surfer, he could get inside him somehow, via his mouth, and cause all kinds of damage from in their. If not Surfer blows up earth, then Swamp Thing's essence finds another planet with more suitable weapons/plant life to combat Surfer.

What's he gonna do inside surfer? Vision has put his hand into surfer, then solidified and it didn't do jack shit. Swamp thing is gonna get his ass kicked no matter what he brings to the table.
Surfer's internal organs aren't really susceptible to damage. He's sustained by the power cosmic. Maybe if he put a seed in his brain, but it takes a lot to damage Surfer. He can also alter matter. He could turn Swamp Thing's plant body into cotton candy (well, sugar, he is a plant).

Yggdrasil???? Swamp Thing created Yggdrasil???? So Swamp Thing is part of Norse mythology now? He created the tree between the 3 realms? Hmm...
Well, if that's the case, Swamp Thing would be part of Ragnarok, right? Yggdrasil is flamable and is burned by Surtur during Ragnarok according to the story (Norse and Comic). Surfer may be able to ignite him. I don't think plant attacks would work on Surfer by the way. He has molecular rearrangment powers. He's pretty fast too.
Could someone provide the book number where Swamp Thing smacked up The Presence. I need to see that with my own eyes. A lot of strange occurances have been transpiring in DC.
