Official Doctor Who Thread

Only half an hour before the new series starts. Yay. 😛

So, what did people think of the episode?

Absolutely brillant and a bonus seeing 'Cecil L'Ively' in it, as a massive fan of The X-Files, that was fantastic when he first appeared in the episode.

Can't wait until next week!!!!

It was very good, yes, though the pacing was a bit jumbled; it's getting mixed reviews at the Gallifrey base forums for that reason.

Moffat is going hardcore sci-fi this year it seems!

Holy hell.

Also, that really reminded me of the X-Files.

The only comment I will make is this...Good Start.

Need to see the concluding part before I pass a full comment.

I've been reading that

Spoiler:
Omega

is to return in the final is this true?

That's been a rumour since The Lodger last year due to some logo similarity in the design of the TARDIS in that story (which was also in this one, of course).

It seems a bit random though- Moffat has gone to the trouble of creating a neat new enemy, and I am unsure if any connection to a classic foe like that is needed. Still, we'll see.

Press reaction has been a bit mixed for the same reason I noted above- pacing-wise, this was a heck of a jumble. But I think it's mostly won high praise from the nerds.

I really loved it

Well that was a starter episode and a half

Really interesting cliffhanger

Spoiler:
i'm guessing she is the offspring of Amy and the Doctor then

Highly unlikely.

Definitely an episode to get people speculating!

yeah way too obvious for Moffat

Brilliant episode IMO. Possibly even one of the best. Good pacing, nice storytelling. Enough balance of scary and weird and no dumb stupid god-mode ending.
I'm also far too excited about the pirate episode, despite the fact that I will probably be disappointed. BUT PIRATES!

It's basically down to who is whose child and why/when/how and, judging by that scan of Amy at the end, a temporal-based 'if'.

It's a speculation meltdown!

Yeah the only part of the ep that I didn't really like was the whole shooting thing, it just seemed a bit too violent for the doctor to be taking part in.

then again maybe I'm still just a bit caught up in the Tennant era

Don;t forget speculation on the "no, I think she's just dreaming" bit...

Now I've seen the whole story it was like Dr Who meets the X-Files well blended together. Interesting to make the first story a two parter, good start hope the rest of the series shapes up well.

Yes, I definitely loved the X-Files feeling of it.

Here's a prequel clip of the next episode

As much as I adored the first episode, the pirate one next week looks one big bore. Not too keen on pirate based entertainment. 🙁

Nice to see some clips of the new Torchwood series also in the adverts! yay.
