Official Doctor Who Thread

I live in America. It comes on friday. This week's episode will be your second in the UK. Although I do go to the BBC to see what people thought of the 3rd and 4th episodes. 😈

I'm curious as to why the Sontarens "weren't allowed to participate" in the Time War, myself. But I have a feeling that RTD is going to keep teasing us with that for some time to come... which is fine with me. I'd almost rather not know anything of the Time War, just like I was okay with not knowing the Clone Wars in Star Wars.

I like little hints, but trying to explain the war may be disastrous.

It IS a little odd, actually- having established that even the Nestene got caught up in that War, and those gas creatures whose name I canot remember, leaving out the Sontarens, who are far more major galactic powers, is unusual.

It is even more unusual when you consider that there have been four Sontaren stories and only one of them was divorced from temporal issues. One was about a Sontaren trapped in medieval era Earth using improvised time travel technology to capture future scientists to help fix his ship, one was about an invasion of Gallifrey, and one was about them being involved in an attempt to crack the secret of time travel in direct defiance of the views of the Time Lords.

One of the most suitable Time War races, I'd have thought.

the Gelph i think they were called, but when i mentioned how the time war changes events i was referring to them as well, since the war cost the autons there planet and the gelph lost there bodies, i was thinking perhaps through the war the Sontarans won there war, or even that the Rutans lost there planet or were wiped out of existence thanks to the war...who knows just a little guess.

But I agree, who would stop the Sontarans from battling, perhaps the guardians?

There's nothing that suggests that the Nestene and Gelph had their timelins changed by those events. Indeed, Jack mentions a linear point in time when the Daleks went to fight the war.

Gelth, actually, not Gelph.

But I found that a bit odd myself. Hmmm.

Tomorrow is Doctor Who for people in the US! I can't wait! *Goes out in backyard and gets in T.A.R.D.I.S. to go to the future*

Well the new daleks were revealed, well done Chris, bravo...way to ruin the surprise.

Well he is a moron. If you meant Moyles there.

Oooooo tomorrow! hope it rains, don't like watching tv when it's sunny outside.

indeed i was.

Very good episode today, can't wait for the next.

Great episode did anyone see rose on the monitar ??

Yes!! it was very quick, so a few might have missed it.

Enjoyed the episode, fab! if the series carries on like this, excellent.

Well, I quite enjoyed that!

Lots of nice references, and "Are you my mummy?" may just be the best joke of the season.

as for this Chris Moyles thing the guys popularity has always been a mystery to me
i hear he says there will be

Spoiler:
Daleks including a red one
in the last episodes
WOW
great scoop there i dont think

I adored that Are You My Mummy bit also, couldn't stop laughing.

That Sontaren armour was a bit shit though. They could at least have made it SLIGHTLY hard to shoot one. Or shown them... employing any tactics. Once the UNIT soldiers could fire back, the Sontarens looked a bit rubbish, which doesn't seem right.
