You can bandage yourself to prevent bleeding but other than that you need to ave greak skill in the healing arts for spontaneous recovery like that...

Actually the loss of hits is the easiest thing to recover 'magically' as they literally represent you tiring (you just tire a lot faster when youre legs are broken and you've been slashed open), so you only need to be refreshed. More serious injuries are much more difficult, but some of the earlier Animist spells allow things like bones to be mended- but even so, that's normally out of combat.

Of course, the more heroic you get the more you can fight on with even, say a 40 point penalty.

And I don't think Ellothiel's strong enough to really do a huge amount of healing, is she?

Not yet, no...

Talin keeps at it to the last!

Flurry of misses from then good guys I am afraid, and one more whack for Talin is too much for the dwarf. He falls at last!

Menelacar: 43 (1he)/5 (C/Shield)/0/31 (Bleeding 1, -10 to activity)

Arnorian A: 60 (1hc)/0 (C/Shield)/-5/39

-

The Arnorian turns wearily towards you, Menelacar.

"You need fight no longer to prove your spirit, Man of Gondor," he says.

Oof. Talin will stagger off the fighting field (or be dragged?).

"Maybe not, Arnorian, but I do if I am to win this fight. You have fought bravely, but now it is down to you and I. Do you yield?"

"You're the one bleeding. I make you the offer to yield."

"Tis but a scratch!"

Is it possible to try and outwit him a bit? Try something to distract him to give me a free attack? If not, all out offensive again me thinks!

Nah, he's still pretty lucid I am afraid; attacking is all there can be to it!

Full offensive it is then!

(Do I have to declare that I'm using my shield against him? Can you assume I am from now on?)

Indeed. I assume your shield is used against your target that turn unless you say otherwise.

A 30 from Menelacar achieves little... an 84 from the Arnorian does more. It s a 15A, and the A has rolled high- it is the shield hit, and your shield has gone!

Menelacar: 43 (1he)/5 (C)/0/16 (Bleeding 1, -10 to activity)

Arnorian A: 60 (1hc)/0 (C/Shield)/-5/39

Uh-oh... still fighting on?

Btw, can all tjose playing please tell me if your characters wear arm and/or leg armour? I've not necessarily got good records of that. When taking wounds, those can make the difference between a damaged arm and a severed one.

Yup, I'll give it one more round...

Um, as far as I know, Ellothiel just wears regular armor, nothing special. At least, I didn't buy any extra or special armor or anything, anyway...

A 90 from Menelacar inflicts 11 damage on his target! He rolls 71 in return, but now shieldless Menelacar is more vulnerable. The hit is an 18A, and that finally takes Menelacar down.

The Arnorian pretty much collapses to his knees after that, driven to exhaustion afetr the two of yuo have traded great, weary blows in metal armour for some minutes now.

Thr crowd is silent for some moments, and then bursts out in gargantuan applause,. No final could be better than this (and indeed, the final will have to be delayed anyway because the victorious team is unable to fight!).

Menelacar struggles to his feet and somehow manages to get to his opponent.

"Well fought Sir," he says.

Anglomir will stagger to his feet to meet the team that beat them, offering his hand in congratulations.

"Indeed, I'm impressed," Anglomir says. "If Fornost has such noble warriors at its disposal, it shall surely stand for another century at least!"

Talin is likely getting medical attention rather than thanking the Arnorian for breaking his leg.

He'll give his name. He's a common man, Simon of Norbury (that's Fornost to you fancy speakers). He's concerned for his own men as well...

"Can't wait to give the Orcs a proper tatse of my mace," he says. "The Hillmen raiders we've been fighting so far make poor foes."

Talin- well... they'll put it in a splint. But it's a broken leg, that's pretty much all they can say!

"Heal like normal, Dwarf legs?" says the squire who is bandaging you.

"Aye, I can tell you that your mace will be needed when it comes time," Anglomir says. "At Minas Tirith I served in the guard that watched the borders of Mordor for a time. Not much happens there, but the Orcs need a good reminder that their time is past, every now and then."
