USH'S LORD OF THE RINGS GAME PART 3- The Tournament and the Traitor

Talin grumbles about his unsatisfactory position as third in the Carry, but intends to show his great ability in the Throw!

Medium run-up, please.

(one more day for Anglomir)

Ok, let's go.

Very simple this! The Strength rolls have a difficulty of 60 (having established that 80, from last time, was too high; they must have used the wrong-sized rocks). The amount you beat that by is how many half-feet you manage to toss the rock.

As for Agility- you do not roll it on a short run, it is difficulty 40 on a medium run, and 60 on a long run. Half your success/failure is applied to the Strength roll on a Medium run, and all of it on a Long run.

Menelacar is first to throw!

He's a little wobbly on a long run, with 'only' +5 to add to the roll... but he rolls an 81! he has found his stride for sure! +21 to his final roll.

And a Strength roll of 63! Increased to 84 by his run-up and 99 by his Strength! Menelacar has certainly set the pace here with a throw of 19 and a half feet! Beat that, Dwarf boy!

Dwarf boy indeed attempts to beat it. But 24 rolled in the run-up ain't great, despite Talin being pretty nimble for a Dwarf. Still, not a disaster; only three lost from his Strength roll.

His Strength roll, however, is only 33. Fumble! The rock falls out of his hands.

Bjornstrad's go! Now, here he is at a disadvantage as Agility is not his strong suit. He goes for a Medium run. 28 rolled- no favours. But 95 rolled for his throw! Even reduced, that still gives im a throw of... ok, I promise is is not irgged, but his final total is 95 -6 for the run up + 10 which is also 99 and so therefore... 19 and a half feet!

Marcus cocks up his run and fumbles.

Best after first throw:

Menelacar: 19.5

Talin: Foul

Bjorsatrad: 19.5

Marcus: Foul

We'll try a long run again then!

Eh... we'll try for the long run up, since the medium seems to have done me no favors.

Here come the second throws!

59 rolled by menelacar on run-up...... gives him +4 to his Strenght roll.

Strength roll is 87! Another great throw!... total of 101, for a new record of 20 and a half feet!

Talin risks all on a long run... and pays off! 95 rolled! A bonus of 40 to his Strength roll!

Strength roll is... 48, which becomes 88, increases y Strength to 103... the lead! Twenty-one and a half feet!

Bjorstrad rolls short, whilst Marcus gets off the starting line but not greatly far.

Best after second throw:

Menelacar: 20.5

Talin: 21.5

Bjorsatrad: 19.5

Marcus: 13

Another long run please!

Talin pumps a fist in the air as he strides confidently over to the next rock, positive that he can launch this one farther than the first.

We'll try the long run again...

Okay, I seem to have missed out...

Anglomir will try the short run up for his first roll, then the medium run up for the second roll, and the long run up for the last!

Elves are hardly normal citizens. I'm sure we can find some way in without breaking the law?

I'm sure you possibly can! But you'd need a plan for it.

Or to find someone you've met before who looked like they had some more official standing...

---

Let's make up Anglomir's throws.

On his short run up... he rolls a 16. Fumbled!

On his medium run-up, he rolls an unhelpful 30, leaving him a small penalty on his throw... on which he rolls an 11. Fumbled! Dearie me.

So now for the final throws!

Menelacar gopes for a long run... oh no! 14 rolled, not handy! Thar gives a penalty to his Strength roll, and a 66 means that although the rock travels, it does not go greatly far.

And a 29 from Talin on his run! Not rgeat either, and a 31 on the throw means it goes no significant distance.

Anglomir stakes all on a long run. And rolling a 62 means it is no disaster, adding seven to his Strength roll. And that roll is an 84! Boosted to 91 by his run, and 106 by his Strength! That, surely, is the win!

Yet Bjorstrad is not finoshed, with a 91 rolled on his run up... he'sw going for it... but a 29 on his roll means he fluffs the actual throw. Doh!

It is done.

Menelacar: 20.5

Talin: 21.5

Bjorstrad: 19.5

Anglomir: 23

Marcus: 15

Anglomir wins!

And the event is over. The final scores...

Anglomir: 22

Menelacar: 14

Talin: 14

Bjorstrad: 12

Marcus: 2

The players all take the podium places! Woo!!

Ellothiel's met the prince...can't get much more official than that 😛

True!

Woo! a 1-2 for Gondor! (plus the dwarf of course).

"Well thrown Master Dwarf," Menelacar says to Talin, "I see your race's reputation is not misplaced." He then turns to Anglomir. "And superb work my friend! Winner overall! Gondor has some pride here this day!"

Talin bows slightly.

"Of course it is not misplaced! Dwarves are the hardiest of all, with the strength to match."

Bjorstrad has skulked off, it seems.

Well, we have a little while before the Joust, so what are people's plans?

Walker goes to walk amongst the crowd and then to see the joust. He's somewhat displeased he missed the stones, but he couldn't help the situation much. Not the type of adventure he prefers, but such things happen.

YEEY JOUSTING!!!! We Still need someone to go see the princess

That was me I think; but I also needed to go to the library too for something. Could I do the latter on the way to see the Princess?

Oh, and what was I going to see the Princess about, and what am I looking for in the library? :-)

Anglomir, somewhat surprised at his own victory, bows to the audience as a gesture of thanks.

"When you are ready," Anglomir says to Menelacar, "on with our task."
