He raises his visor.

"Talin!" He points at himself with his free hand. "It's me! Robert!"

Hmm, Ok, i really feel I should be doing something in this game, but I have no idea. We have our main suspect as being Annuyen or however you spell his name, now, maybe some evidence or something?

Talin, gladdened by his own correctness and the appearance of a friend, approaches the well-armored Robert. He comes to a halt before him, leaning on his heavy axe for support.

"Robert, my boy!" Talin says in greeting. "Our paths cross again!"

"Well hey! How have you been? What brings you to this place of all places? Boring old books for a Dwarf?"

---

Evidence is pretty tricky until you start getting a bit hardcore, which is why you need to narrow suspects first. What do you personally thing of the situation, Palidan?

"If you must know," Talin says. "I am on secret business! Hush hush, really, I'm not at liberty to say. And by what fortune have you been assigned as protector of these here boring old books?"

"Fortune indeed! After we took on that big bastard Orc together... well! I was one of the soldiers who saved the Princes, wasn't I? I've been elevated to the Heraldric guard. Best job in the army, Good wages, and these books are hardly likely to give me trouble, are they?"

"You never know," Talin says. "The Witch King could use some unnatural magic to transform them into unholy beasts. But this is excellent news, Robert, I am glad for your new status on the Guard."

"Bah! A pox on the Witch-King and his so-called magics..."

"Quite. So, Robert, what is the latest gossip amongst the Arthedainians as far as the nobility goes? Anything fascinating or out of the ordinary?"

"Err," he says, glancing at the other guard. "Probably best not to gossip whilst I am on duty..."

"When are you off? We can hit the pub and gossip and recall our great feats against the Orcs with fond remembrance!"

His duty ends at sundown.

Well I feel there has been some really sketchy things going on, but nothing to provoke more than a shouting match or something. No real motivation for traitorous behavior. There must be something to sweeten the deal.

Also I am trying to remember everything, its been a long time in this game.

Ok, well.

Let's take your suspect Annuneryn. What suspicious marks are there against him?

Our suspicions of Annuneryn rise from the disgrace of his father. We don't know what his father did to be disgraced, nor do we know how they affected Annuneryn.

We also know that he is a self-made Lord, so to speak, having established the title on his own rather than gaining it from his father. Right? We could explore how he was able to do so.

There was one other thing you had of interest fgrom Annuneryn, from when you visited the Treasury.

He did get it from his father, btw. Just not upon death, as is the norm.

Oh, yes. Annuneryn pays the least amount of tax to the Treasury, meaning he has the lowest income of the Lords, and he also owes a considerable amount of money to the Treasury.

The stress of debt could drive a man to extremes in attempts to alleviate that...

Lowest it may be, but he still makes a large amount of money.

Then why the standing debt?

Good question!
