USH'S LORD OF THE RINGS GAME PART 3- The Tournament and the Traitor

Heh!

You may indeed go to both. I can help a tad with the Princess- you have no specific reason to see her, but the point was that you were earlier casting suspicion on Annuneryn, and just in connection to 'stuff he had done', Argentis saw him earlier waiting to see the Princess.

You're a strong guy, Anglomir, and the crowd (being mostly common men themselves, for such an event) favour you well, even though you are not one of their own. You look the part for a victor in such a test.

Walker- those Elves are being all concerned/snooty over who the corpse was. Apparently they feel the meaning of his identity may be important?

Walker tries to leave to go see the games, but something in his head stops him. It's a common problem, for him, really. He cannot stand a mystery. That is to say that he cannot stand not knowing the answer to a mystery. Seeing the elves taking an unusual interest of a murdered human is not something one witnesses often. Perhaps there's something more than the tournament going on around here. He thinks to himself. Realising that this won't be the first, or actually, even the thirty-something-eth tournament he's watched, Walker decides the elves and this dead human could be much more interesting. He approaches...

"Well! It's not everyday that you find a dead human in a pile of dung, is it? Come to think, I haven't seen many live ones in that situation either. I can't help but notice you appear to be as curious as I about the whole matter." He gives a polite bow to the group. "Walker. At your service of course." He adds.

Gwilwileth, not entirely used to races outside of the Elvish, looks down on the Dwarf with curiosity. She is unsure what to make of his lending of assistance, and so merely returns a polite nod.

"It is a curious matter indeed," Gwilwileth replies. "It seems that this man was a Dunedan, as we thought, and that he was a friend of the Prince. His name was Erathran."

"It is as you say; generally bodies do not turn up in that manner, especially not a Dunedan." Ellothiel replies to Walker.

"And if he was a friend of the Prince, perhaps we should try talking to the Prince himself? I have met him, and I think it would be worth trying."

Is there anyone who would be able to arrange a meeting with him for us? Or at least let him know we would like to see him?

"I am unsure about that," Gwilwileth replies to Ellothiel. "The Prince did not seem particularly wounded by the death of his friend. In fact, this Erathran fellow had some sort of parchment on his person that the Prince asked be burned by the Stewards. I found that... strange."

"Even more reason to try and find out about this Erathran, then." Ellothiel says. "At the very least, I can ask the Prince to allow us access to the library."

Well after the 'hint' (cough cough) do we still need to cast doubt on Annuneryn? Or shall I ask the Princess about her brother instead?
And Menelacar can gain access to the library, so could take the Elves there. Except I don't think they've met yet.

Yeah, I'm not sure...Ellothiel knows Darvan, but I don't think she's really met anyone else more than just very briefly, and I don't think Gwilwilith or Elladil have either.

Menelacar knows Darvan too...

A load of you guys met at the archery tournament, and in a bit of practise beforehand, out in the fields by the city.

Walker makes a dramatic show of looking over both shoulders and then leans toward the group conspiratorily and lowers his voice.
"You Elves certainly like to just jump into royal affairs, don't you? You say you have met the Prince, but that's not the same as knowing him. Consider the situation again. A Dunedan 'fried' of the Prince turns up dead with folk from all parts running around everywhere. You say the Prince showed little shock, or even concers for the fate of his 'friend'. Now, that 'friend' as you call him also happened to be carrying a mysterious note. The Prince ordered that note burned immediately? My dear elves, that Dunedan was probably a spy. Or at least a courrier. Did he even read the note? If the Prince read the note then it obviously contained sensitive information for his eyes only. If he didn't even read it, then he sent it or otherwise already knew it's contents. Have you ever, anytime seen folk who discover a mysterious note and have it destroyed on sight? Or not even read it? I don't mean to tell you your business, I'm newly arrived here and a stranger to you to say the least. But you may wanto to give more consideration to the matter before confronting the Prince."
Walker leans back and allows himself a small smile. He's probably right, but if he isn't, at the minimum, he has certainly annoyed a group of important looking elves. Not a waste of so much breath either way.

Ok, so, let's get down to specifics.

Ellothiel, are you going to go and find the Prince?

If we wish a little coincidence to speed things along, I can have the old guys turn up at the records at the same time the new guys do...

Yes, Ellothiel will. Anyone want to come with her?

And coincidences are always good 😛

Well, Menelacar will be there too.
"Aah," he says to the Elvish contingent, "Nice to see you again"

"Greetings. We are a bit confused in this land of humans." -Elladil sighs.

What is your tack for going to see the Prince, Ellothiel?

"Not uncommon, my fair friends," Talin says, giving a nod to the newcomers that he recognizes from the dealings at Baranar. "Arnor is very much unlike Rivendell or the Woods to the East."

Meh as long as the Jousting hasn't started I guess I could still be at the records.

"Talin?" says one of those well-armoured guards at the front door of the archives.

Talin turns at the sound of his name, raising an eyebrow, though he has a slight guess as to who this might be.
