Evange's Amalgam Tournament Announcement: Roster and Scheduling

Still, it will make it harder to fill all of the gaps with only 3. With 4 it'll be easy to build an incredibly well-rounded amalgam, especially if we're getting everyone's experience, not just one "mind" like in this tourney.

And while I think we all have at least a couple 'unknowns' that we're planning on picking, eventually we're going to get to the last round and if we have 4 per person the 15th or 16th person will have to pick Jubilee or Toad or something similarly horrible. I'm not planning on being that person, but I think that with less people in our amalgam it would make each pick more important and competitive.

4 is too many.... and if it happens that i'm in any way responsible for this thing then it will definitely be limited to 3 max..... maybe even 2.... if we go 1 from powerful street and 1 from just above powerful street (as an option, not instead of 3 powerful street guys).... there could also be a third option of just taking one character from Iron Man level (or just below IM level)..... it'll all get worked out when the current tourny ends

i think 4 would be better, because streel-level characters aren't generally powerful, so letting us have four would give us a powerful character. idk if i ran it i would give 4 selections

I think you just thought of a combo that involves 4 people adn you really like it and think it will be nearly unbeatable am I right Stormfront. 😄

no, i am trying to decide between like 30 people, but having four would make for better picking, and better fights

I think that is what is cool about onlt choosing 3 people. It will be hard to pick people that can easily fill in every role meaning your character can have a few weaknesses that can be exploited and thus make for a great debate on how you overcome them.

but still, they are street-level and every street-level has a weakness. if we weren't going to have a weakness then we would choose like 10 characters which is waaaaay to many. i think four is the perfect number because it makes choosing more fun, making combos more fun, and battling more fun. there will always be a weakness in your character, for example, the one i have has a weakness

What exactly is the upper limit of "street level"? Spidey? If it's Spidey, would his villains be allowed?

well going by SS's tourny "Street level" means no powers.... which is why i suggested "powerful street level" .... which went up to Carnage and that sort of guy

it's all till open to debate though

I like your idea scoob.

powerless!? if it is powerless people, then i'm out

Yeah, this is all up in the air right now. I'd still vote for an Abstract Beings tourney, but it never seemed to catch on with anyone else.

We're sort of defining our own levels right now. "Street Level" is basically just fighting skills...no powers. The newly coined "powerful street level" goes up to basically Spidey and his villians as I understand it...so some powers would be allowed. Anyone within this range would be acceptable, though some debates may occur as to who is allowed. Most likely we'd need a weight-class limit too. So, for example, while Rhino is a Spidey-villian, he's something like class 80 and would be banned.

Scoob proposed 2-3 from various levels...Street, Powerful Street, and one "at or below Iron Man" as he put it...another general term that would presumably include higher strength classes, a few more powers, and most sub-cosmic beings (though a few like Magneto would be too powerful).

Personally I think even at an Iron Man level you run into too many powers and some murky waters with telepaths and basic magic stuff. I'd prefer sticking to the "powerful street level" (SM and villians and below) for all of our picks, whether it's just 2 picks or 3-4.

You'd have to put a strength limit, flight speed limit (if any flying is allowed), certain powers wouldn't be allowed like telepathy and magic... etc. So everyone would really be taking someone with peak strength and durability, another for fighting ability then a third for something miscellaneous like spidey and dd senses, wolvie healing and claws, optic blasts... etc.

I agree with Digi Powerful Street Level would be good. I agree no telepathy or should be allowed. I would also say that flight shouldn't be allowed.
Another thing that has t be considered is powers that have range.
For instance should there be a limit has to how powerful a range power can b like should Cyclops Optic Blast be the limit or should it be a lower level.

I don't think ranged attackes need to be worried about. I mean, how many street level types DON'T dodges bullets and energy blasts and all that on a regular basis?

Cyclops shouldn't be a problem...except possibly for the "I take off my visor and it's over" arguments. But similar energy projectors should be no problem (Shocker/Gambit pop to mind as decent examples).

And I just think powerful street level allows us to have some fun with powers and such while still limiting how powerful we can make our amalgams. An Iron Man-type would throw the door open for some cosmic-level combos (if properly paired), and I think that's what this current tourney is for.

I agree Digi.

I'm hoping for 4 myself, but 3 is fine.

I also think we should only be allowed to send our characters into the tourny master via PM, so no one will switch thier characters up at the last second after seeing someone who picked a char' who has their weakness.

you send them to the tourny master, he/she says a yes/no on the character.

How would you know if your characters have been picked though?

You wouldn't, you'd have to send them into the tourney runner, if someone sent thiers in first, and has one that you want, the tourny runner would pm you saying that certain character has been picked, try another.

Also, for this to work, everyone would have to send their characters in at around the same time. maybe a five hour period or something.

In the last tourny, there was obvious "last second character change" to gain another characters weakness. Ask Scoob, he was a lil perturbed about that.
