My question is still unanswered. How did Bush specifically FORCE the United States into war?

A) It wasn't war.

B) Because most people didn't want it, he still went ahead with it. The people didn't want the 'war'.

How?

by misleading the people and making them believe that saddam had ties to al quaida, by lying about WMD's....LYING. i said this before. why do you ask me to repeat myself? unless you feel that bush should not be held responsible for his own lies?

And what exactly would you call Bush?

I'd say the President is a big elected representative.

That's still not direct power; that is being devious. Though I would be willing to bet that Bush wasn't the only one in on the lies.

You're not a fan of The Dodgers by any chance are you?

Well technically Bush could have sent troops over to Iraq whether congress approved the "war" or not. Being the Head of the Executive Branch and Commander and Chief of the United States Armed Forces, the President has the ability to send troops anywhere he wants too.. whenever he wants too.

It's still up to congress to "officially" declare "war" in a legal/financial sense..but just because congress doesn't declare it or provide all the legal/financial backing, it doesn't mean that a "war" isn't going on. And based on what I know about Bush, he would have sent Troops over to Iraq anyway..WITHOUT Congress's approval.

I don't believe that Bush purposely tried to mislead the people. You have to consider that he doesn't have one of the most analytical, detail oriented minds, and he bases many of his choices on his personal beliefs/circumstances, rather than the facts presented before him.

Anyway..as many have pointed out..the American people were mislead(this includes Congress) about the reasons as to why we went to war. The original "FACTS" behind the US going to war stated by the BUSH administration were all based on erroneous information, thus the war was essentially started under false pretenses.

As far as the bomb incident goes, I have to say that I'm quite glad no one was hurt during the whole situation. The president represents the American people, and any action against him reflects how the rest of the world feels about the US. Regardless of my personal beliefs about his ideologies and policies, I'm glad nothing came of the incident. For all we know, if anything did happen to our President..that would have been the beginning of World War III...

I express my utmost regret that the grenade was only a dud.

well, i was away for a day and the thread takes of, i had some reading to do, well done guys.
