all I'm tying to say here...is that newer comic book fans relate to whats hip and in today.....and then develop actual reasons for liking the character.....there are exceptions....there are always exceptions.....but I think this is one of the reasons they've had to re-kickstart spidermans character over and over again....same with supes and bats.......cause who they are today has been developed into something more suitable for todays generations while retaining the same overall virtues they've always had.......

<<That said,it doesn't mean people don't appreciate older characters.Theirs a lot of good stories out their and the fans know that.>.i'm not making a blanket statement, smiley (or implying that you personally don't share an appreciation for older characters) i'm just positing (with no real 'evidence' other than some guessed at loyalties in this forum) that the trends i mentioned MAY be true. i'm sure LOTS of younger fans love the older guys, like some older guys like the younger. in general though, i would guess older relates better to older, younger to younger. lots of people think supes is a nerd and discredit him. lots of people see spidey as still just a kid (even the new avengers wolvie TREATS him like a kid which, in my mind, is assinine). course, i may be wrong, but i do't think it's an irrational guess.
I completely agree on the spidey thing. He isn't a kid anymore so he shouldn't be treated by one.I belive though, most peoples foundest memories of spiderman, are of those when he still a teen.I think sometimes people know, but don't want to except that spideys all grown up.

i think a big factor in this are the wise cracks he still spouts while STILL being able to fight crime and save the day 😆

SM is overrated and getting played out.
When a character had so many variations done to it, I don't believe it's because he is that interesting but rather a feeble attempt to retain the interest of the fans especially new ones.
Comic industry has to compete with a lot of other forms of entertainment that is becoming too powerful, therefore keeping their most popular characters interesting is more of a last resort kinda thing.

But seriously, what's the deal with the first Star Wars suddenly being a low budget movie ? That film came out in 1977, almost 30 years ago, and had a budget of 12 million dollars ! Back then, that was a huge amount people.
Budget film my ass lol.
I saw it last night. I was impressed with Vader, but disappointed in Gen. Grievous. His SW-CW incarnation was far more impressive than his movie version, or at least, in the cartoon his exploits were explored more and by the time the film came out his character didn't have much more to bring to the plot. It pretty much picked up where the cartoon left off (a la AniMatrix).
For those who haven't seen the film, I won't say too much, but Spidey would get stomped by Vader, and Jedi/Sith aren't low level telekinetics like people here like to believe.

He couldn't even sense his own son on the Deathstar. No, don't tell me, there is an explanation for it lol.
Being in the same room isn't the same as being in another part of a small moon. Always have to downplay your opponents abilities in order to gain a foot hold?
And Vader did sense him.

Yeah that's true. There was no money anymore to make Darth Vader move a bit faster 😆But seriously, what's the deal with the first Star Wars suddenly being a low budget movie ? That film came out in 1977, almost 30 years ago, and had a budget of 12 million dollars ! Back then, that was a huge amount people.

12 million was to cover each of the three movies. Not just one movie. that's about 4 million per movie. That covers the Actor's fees the budgeting for the electrricity the cost of the film the props the costumes and the painted in effects for the blaster and lightsabers. . . Movies cost alot of money. But yeah if you look at the Star wars films now a day you can see the Jedi moving faster because they have a bigger budget to work with, better technology and can do more.
They had a low budget and they didn't even expect it to do as well as it did.
Well, if you think about it, it's not really advanced, it just looks better because of modern visual effects. You can see a difference in the Star Destroyers and Storm Troopers. In the original films they were more advanced as far as look and armor. The Droid Army just no longer exists in the future. And for the fighting skill difference, Luke didn't have extensive Jedi training (years) as the original Jedi did, so his skills wouldn't be as developed in Episodes V and VI. I'm wondering if they'll make an Old Republic Film Trilogy or a post Return of the Jedi Trilogy. A lot more happens in the story line (like the Emperor transferring his consciousness into a clone and not dying in the end of Ep. VI, as well as Luke training Jedi) that would make good films.
They need to work on the dialogue though. It's dry as hell.
i have no idea how they would pull that off.....luke is on his deathbed.....well not really but he's lookin pretty rough.....
anyways, george lucas said it was a struggle to make FX creature masks that had moving mouths.......he stated that they barely pulled off chewy at all and almost had to reconsider the character alltogether cause of the budget or lack there of........watch EP3 see what an "old" darth sidious is capible of....then take into consideration what he says about vaders power...........spidey's gonna die...so fast.

okay. so, here's what YOU said:
<<"okay I don't really agree that having an appreciation for newer characters compared to older ones....is a valid point......I mean younger comic book fans find appreciation for comic book heroes that relate to the present real world in some way shape or form">>
and i said that i think older collectors tend to like some of the more established characters more than some of the newer ones. maybe. you said you 'don't really agree' with this premise, that went and backed it up my premise saying <<younger comic book fans find appreciation for comic book heroes that relate to the present real world>> first you disagree, then you say the same thing i said because the implication behind your words is that younger prefer younger/newer! heheh 🙂 i agree with you of course - younger folk DO relate better to newer characters that fit better in the present day. it's not a judgemental statement in anyway, just an expression of what may or may not truly be a trend.
and i only brought it up because at times debating on this site is pointless - each side is so entrenched that they will use any irrational argument to back up their statements. this to me shows a lack of maturity, and when that happens, it leads to flames and insults. in general, i suspect much of this problem stems from the fact that there are so many very young people around here. sounds like an indictment of young people- it's not. it's an indictment of IMMATURE people who will argue for the sake of arguing and turn debates into pissing contests. of course, there may be as many old timers doing this, as younger folk, i can't REALLY know. all of this is simply speculation - but again, i don't think its irrational speculation.
