They are there for a reason.. They have done very well in the last few world cups, and have beaten a number of good teams along the way.

Did I think Liverpool were the best team in Europe last year.. no but they still won the Champions league.. USA are there on merit.. Sure on their day there are better teams than them. But if these teams haven't been playing well like Germany for example they slip down the rankings. Germany are what in the 20's.. USA deserve to be there because they are playing well.

Cuba, Domincan Republic, Canada.. and their toughest opponents being Mexico.

the reason Germany are lower down the rankings is because they have the play teams that are actually good, like Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, etc etc... and obviously theyre going to lose sometimes...

You can only play who is put in front of you. I agree that USA are not really a top 5 team but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be there.. They have worked hard at their game and are now seeing the benefits.

if a team player 100 matches against tough opponents and wins 80 of them, and another team plays 100 games against rubbish teams and wins all of them... who deserves to be in the top 5?

FIFA need to change their points system, because winning against the dominican republic doesnt equate to drawing against Italy or France etc.

I do get your point and I agree. The opposition isn't as great for the USA.. but they have done very well in the last few world cups. so until FIFA decide to change their points system the USA will keep winning matchs where as other teams will draw or lose some.. All I am saying is that you can't say that they shouldn't be there just because there are other so called better teams in lower positions.

USA have done nothing to deserve 5th place. just beat a load of average/shit teams along the way. rankings should go on commen sense and difficuly of opponents as well as games won

Trabelsi 'issue': i dont think we necessarily needed a better right back... Stalteri is ok, and Stephen Kelly is good and young as well. But when you get Hatem Trabelsi for free you arent gonna turn him down.

Davids issue: Davids will be prominent yea, but i hope he gets back on form, his last few performances have been dismal... Jol is clearly playing him unfit, which just leaves us with dead weight... he is, however, a huge influence on the team psychologically and could be in the team on those grounds alone.

the only ground you have to stand on is in the Davids quote i left out the word tactically before dead weight... but since id used it after 'unfit' i thought you'd realise i was talking about on the pitch. since being unfit has no impact on a person psychological impact.
