Betting shops have re-opened the betting for the premiership title I hear.. They had payed out on Chelsea winning and stopped taking bets I think even before christmas..

Yeah. They got the free publicity of doing that, stopped people betting on Chelsea (AKA stopped losing any more money), and now they can take even more on people believing Man Utd have a chance.

Yeah they do know how to make their money.

Chelsea's odds of winning the title went from 100 - 1 on before the Birmingham game to just 20 - 1 on after..

Man Utd are 1 - 7.. worth a £10 bet IMO.

If Chelsea, let this 'to be' title slip away from their grasp, meh, they are __________, the same way Arsenal would be if they allow Juve to get through in the return leg.

Who do people think is going to be the next England manager? Do the English amongst us think it is necessary that he is English? If so, why?

Personally, I can't see any decent English managers. None of the names circulated have much charisma or spark a la Venables, Hoddle or Keegan. Curbishley is dull, Pearce is really dull. Then, there's Allardyce, who would set us back - in footballing terms - about 10 years to the days of Turnip Taylor.

That leaves choosing another foreign coach. From the names mentioned, O'Neill and Hiddink would have to be the pick of the bunch.

I think it will be Hiddink.. I just hope the the Welsh FA get rid of the ******* John Toshack we got in at the moment..

I agree. I don't think Pearce is dull in terms of personality, but he doesn't bring much to the table in terms of knowledge or tactics.

Apparently, or so I read recently, the new manager will need to meet with the FA's sponsors to give them assurances that Beckham won't be dropped, or lose the captaincy. Tragicomic is a good word I'd say.

as long as the manager is a good motivator and a good tactician. then i dont mind.

Isn't it default that he won't have the chance to be? Especially seeing as he won't be allowed to drop Beckham or deprive him of captaincy.

Fair enough, Lyon's mistake and the goals count, but I don't see why people rate Shevchenko as some Henry-level striker. The man was silent until Lyon made a mistake. Lyon deserved that win, and I wanted them to win, but now I have the joy of watching AC Milan get knocked out (hopefully) by Barca.

Arsenal have got Villareal, shouldn't be too hard.

Ah well, those two AC Milan goals in the last minutes reminded me of similar goals scored at the Nou Camp some 7 years ago by an English team. Perhaps that team didnt deserve to win either.
