The last minute recoverys happen a lot among the top teams, its the small genius strikes or apponents mistakes which decide many games, and Reina´s cat like penatly saving ability for liverpool.

Not much to do with tactics apart from trying to take out some of the apponents creative players whilst making space for you own.

Kuyt is a lunatic, ive never seen someone run arround so much apart from maybe Rooney, who also has an endless battery. maybe Kuyt will become a better goal scorer if he gets the right partner, Tevez would be could.

As an aside, the overrating of Berbatov is reaching fever pitch.

How exactly? he had a brilliant season and now big clubs are bidding for him?...

If he was wearing red you'd be pushing his acclaim even higher.

No, no I wouldn't. I rate based on what I can see, not on what people say.

Every Spurs fan I know is treating him like The Second Coming because he isn't like the players they are used to, IE, not all that.

Drogba Chelsea 20
McCarthy Blackburn 18
Ronaldo Manchester United 17
Rooney Manchester United 14
Yakubu Middlesbrough 14
Bent D Charlton 13
Doyle Reading 13 <-----
Berbatov Tottenham 12
Johnson Everton 12 <-----
Kuyt Liverpool 12
Viduka Middlesbrough 12
Anelka Bolton 11
Keane Tottenham 11
Lampard Chelsea 11
Martins Newcastle 11
Van Persie Arsenal 11 <---- injured for months
Zamora West Ham United 11 <--- shit
Defoe Tottenham 10
Henry Arsenal 10 <---- see van Persie
Kanu Portsmouth 10
Silva Arsenal 10

He's a highly skilled player, I don't deny it. The rating has gone beyond the pale though, undeniably. One good season and he's worth £27.5 million plus Saha? Overrating.

If that is, as I suspect, a fabricated story, even more the case.

If he was wearing red would you be pushing his acclaim lower? I have reason to believe so, since I distinctly remember you saying it about Henry.

He was probably the 2nd best striker of the season behind Drogba (was 2nd on the ACTIM Index...lol).
He was the only member of the PFA team of the year that came from a team outside the top 4.
It was his first season in the premiership (a notoriously tough league to adjust to).
He scored 23 goals in 49 appearances (which isn't bad considering he had a load of assists as well...).

There's no doubt he was one of the players of the season for Spurs (Dawson was good as well, played every game and was very consistent considering King was out for alot of the season). Do i think he's worth 27.5m+Saha? Not necessarilly, but he had a brilliant FIRST season in the premiership, that 27.5m would be a good investment since you'd expect a player to be better in his second season. Also, as well as being a decent finisher, he's a very creative player and would fit perfectly into Man Utd's method of play... If they continue the way they did this season.

Is he worth all the praise he's got, i'd say so... He was without a doubt instrumental for Spurs' season and the sort of player we need to keep hold of if we have any chance of closing the gap on the top 4.

Henry is a world class striker, the only thing i can say bad about him is he's starting to seem alot more arrogant than in the past... it's just a shame he plays for Arsenal 😛 (Barcelona in the summer?)

Yeah. The praise Berbatov is getting, that I have personally seen, outstrips Drogbas, though. That's why I find it odd.

Berbatov plays more attractive football i guess, but Drogba has had a shit load of press attention as well...

Yeah.

Although, I also find Ronaldo's praise to be disproportionate.

He scooped pretty much every award he was eligible for though...

E-exactly.

Ronaldo's a cock end. Every time he dives he sits there with his arms folded like a spoilt little kid, really winds me up. His talents are overrated as well, yeah he's good but nothing to go too wild about.

Ronaldo is a freestyler, and the showboating comes off sometimes and looks good. But most the time he loses the ball. Get a good defender nasty little player like Gattuso on him and Ronaldo is out of the picture.

Berbatov has a natural goal scoring talent but misses too many chances.

Tevez deserves a lot of praise, when the going get tough, he produced the goods.

The thing is, the reason I say Berbatov is overrated is not due to him not being good, it's due to it clearly being a bandwagon thing.

Where's Benni McCarthy's hype?

He's had it. When he was at Ajax he was tipped to be the next big thing but failed miserably at Celta Vigo. He's not as good as Berbatov, anyway.

When it comes to overrating, I can't think of a single player that can compete with the amount of undue acclaim heaped on the shabby head of John Terry.

He's a striker, he puts the ball in the net... players like that get accolades, but not as much as those who put the ball in the net and create situations for others to put the ball in the net. McCarthy finished the season with 2 assists, as opposed to Berbatov's 11. Berbatov also plays with alot more flair, and lets face it.. everyone prefers flair players (except Alardyce).

Berbatov has received a shit load of press, im not denying that, what i'm arguing is that he's not necessarilly undeserving of it.

Arguably, although McCarthy outscored him quite comfortably. He's not as glamourous, though.

He is one of the worst cases.

Unless it's Michael Owen, who also gets accolades for previously putting the ball in the net.

He deserves much of it, in any case. However, the main overrating to which I refer is by fans, not the media.

he is a class player. leave it at daaaaaa!!!!!

...who is nonetheless on the business end of a media felchstorm.

Micheal Owen?

Im amazed that he is a possibility for upcomming England games.

He hasn´t played all season and seriously lacks match practice, ok his natural ability is there but the speed and fine tuning cannot be there yet.

Im a fan of Owen but Mclaren is proving what a pathetic manager he is by doing daft things like this.

Whens Theo Walcott going to get a shot, after all if your good enough your old enough.

He probably isn't good enough yet. Or at least, consistent enough.

Not that it stops Rooney playing every game.
