It was basically due to Fabregas and Gilberto being better at the moment, and the frequent lack of left-sided cover last season.
I don't think he or Vieira are strictly DMs, they're kind of a mixture of everything at once.
This season if the 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 is used, I expect to see him often against the more physical teams.

MLS is a very under-rated league, unless anyone watches it week in and week out then they shouldn't criticise it. Sure, it's not got top quality name like in the Premiership, La Liga or Serie A.. but it is a league that is on the up and it's just a matter of time before it gets known. I think because of Baseball and NFL, the MLS gets overlooked.
Beckham is on a mission to change that, and who knows if enough talented US athletes become interested, USA world Champions🙂
Now if they won the world cup it WOULD wake interest in the USA, it wouldn´t suprise me in this corrupt world if that won´t be "Fixed" soon so the US dollars can flow into the FIFA´s pockets.
